timing: April 2011
The whirlwind of activity lasted much longer than Emma Rooney had expected.
It had been a particularly difficult win against the Cannons. Emma was ashamed that the Cannons had played so well when they regularly finished at the bottom of the league. But their seeker had managed to catch the snitch and secure 150 points and a narrow win for the Tornadoes. She had played her best, her precise aim knocking the quaffle out of the opposing team's possession more than once. Emma's nearly perfect aim had been honed and trained during her time in the United States. She had also practiced archery, but that was more for fun.
Emma patted her team on the back and gave six different hugs. She shook hands of orange clad players before retreating to the locker room. Her hair was a bit of a mess, matted from the wind. She didn't bother to change out of her Quidditch robes since she would most likely just apparate home and take a long private shower. Emma wasn't keen on the shared changing room. There were just too many germs.
Two minutes into the captain's victory speech, Emma tuned out. She glanced over at the other beater and caught a flash of memory. Riding a bicycle. Emma had learned to ride a bicycle as well, even if it was a muggle thing. She looked down at the ground. She had a tendency to reach into peoples minds and extract information by accident (though sometimes on purpose). The mind wasn't a book to be opened and read at leisure. But Emma had become a very skilled Legilimens due to her determination to succeed and hunger for information.
Finally, the speech was over and the team was free. Emma left the changing room swiftly but was barely three paces outside when she was held up by a school aged pair. She blinked. "Hello..." said Emma slowly, looking between them. "Did erm... did you enjoy the match?" she asked, hoping they were fans of hers and not the Cannons.
