ost of the Scottish snows had finally receded, returning the Hogwarts lawns to a tempting outdoor paradise for Genevieve. The teen couldn't help herself and the way that the shadowy places inbetween the trees of the Forbidden Forest beckoned to her. She had always wanted to explore the deep parts of the forest where they said only centaurs and werewolves roamed, but she knew that Juliet would have a coronary at the idea. Still, the idea picked at her like some sort of insatiable insect bite.
That sunny Friday afternoon, Gen decided to venture into the forest and figure out exactly what was so forbidden about it. After all, if they wanted to keep inquisitive troublemakers out of the forbidden forest, they shouldn't have made it off limits! That's just a glowing, glittering invitation - one that Gen was happy to RSVP for. So there she stood at the edge of the forest, hands on her hips and staring into the shadowy abyss in front of her. "What makes you so forbidden anyway?" she asked rhetorically, hardly expecting anyone to hear, much less answer.
It was kind of exhausting. Not only making sure she did what exactly she needed to at all times, making sure she finished tasks and turned in assignments. But also, she needed to constantly make sure that her brothers and sister were also on task. It wasn't that she didn't trust them (okay, maybe she didn't totally trust them), but she just felt like it was her responsibility to make sure they stayed in line. After all, their parents weren't here to supervise, who was supposed to make sure things got done?
She was sure that her antics drove her siblings crazy, especially the boys. Gen could often understand her reasoning for most things, even if Juliet's antics sometimes came off as well-played arrogance. Still, she hoped that, deep down, they all knew she was just doing what was best for them. Currently, she was on the lookout for her siblings. She'd gotten a tip off that someone had seen Gen heading outside (which sounded like such a great idea, given that it was still somewhat cold), so she decided to head out herself.
She sang softly to herself as she stepped outside the warm interior of the castle, bracing herself for the cold air to hit her face. The cold was not her friend, she tended to avoid it at all costs. But, if braving it meant tracking down her sister, she'd do so. She wandered for a while, finally spotting a familiar brunette head, then speed-walked over. "Gen! What are you doing out here?" She demanded, crossing her arms in front of her, raising an eyebrow.
The cold wasn't something that Noah was opposed to being out in. Even now with the weather warming up slightly, there were still only a few people on the grounds at any given time. It made for a nice place to get away from everything for a little while that would only last until spring officially made its way into the castle. Though he wasn't opposed to spring either. Noah didn't really have a preference when it came to seasons.
Either way, he was taking the time now to have a nice stroll on the lawns. It was actually almost warmer outside than his dorm because some idiot had let the fire go out. He was pretty sure that wasn't supposed to be possible since it was a magical fire, but of course there was always that one person that managed to do impossible things.
The lack of people outside stood out a bit starkly as he had his walk, noticing only two other people besides himself the further down the lawn he got. And of course he recognized the two of them. His sisters. What a stroke of luck. Heading over to them, he wished dearly that there was still snow on the ground. They weren't paying any mind to their approaching sibling and he would have loved nothing more than to surprise them with a snowball attack.
As it was, he finsihed approaching the two girls. "What brings you two out here?" he asked by way of greeting without waiting for them to notice him. They were on the edges of the forest, so it was hopefully something exciting, but with Juliet there, Noah had his doubts about that one.
en hadn't expected to be followed, or approached, or whatever it was that resulted in Juliet showing up. As much as Genevieve loved her sister, she hated that Juliet always acted like she was so much older and mature than the rest of the quadruplets. The Gryffindor had plenty to worry about when it came to not getting caught by the professors and prefects, she didn't need to add her sister to the list, as much as Juliet seemed to beg to be on it.
Juliet demanded an explanation, even though she wasn't owed one, especially since Gen hadn't broken any rules... yet. "Oh you know..." she answered nonchalantly, "Sunshine... fresh air... all that jazz..." Genevieve didn't tell Juliet about her plans because, in all honesty, she had no plans other than exploring. After all, did there really even need to be any actual plans to go off of?
Genevieve was running through different ways to get out of Juliet's gaze with another Beckett quad joined the conversation. Gen smiled at Noah. Of all her siblings, she felt like she understood him the best, and often envied his placement in Slytherin. "Absolutely nothing,"she answered to Noah, though she gave him a look that could only be interpreted as "But actually something!"
Juliet knew her siblings thought her to be a bit of a wet towel, at times. She could be no fun, and she could certainly shut down their plans. She wanted to show them that she could be fun, she could go on an adventure. For once, she wanted to be in on the fun. Was that too much to ask? As Gen replied to Noah, she saw a knowing look pass between them. She sort of felt like she was shut out of their plans, more often than not.
Clearing her throat, she plastered a smile on her face, despite the feeling of emptiness that was gathering in her stomach. Straightening a little, she decided to be bold and spontaneous, just this once. "Well, we were gonna go into the forest, of course. Come on." Without waiting to see what kind of reaction her brash words would garner, she plunged ahead, breaking through the thin, first defenses of the Forest. Screw responsible.
