There had been a fire in the first year Gryffindor room. Honestly Duke had no idea how it happened. He obviously couldn't be blamed for it. One minute he had been studying charms and flicking his wand; the next there was a fire. But the young lion didn't panic. Instead he managed to put it out and then shove the burned sheets in a bag.
The fire had been on his dorm mate's bed. Hopefully the other male wouldn't hold it against him. Magic was just so cool he wanted to play with it all of the time. There had to be a way he could get better with it.
Lysander didn't want to be in Gryffindor. His twin wasn't here, so why would he want to be here? He didn't like being separated from him. This house stuff was nonsense. Why did what traits they have determine in which places they slept? Or had classes with? Or or or. He just didn't want it. He wanted to be in Hufflepuff. Or just back home. Back before this had been a problem, and he had somehow ended up differently to the rest of his family.
And then his bed had been caught on fire. He wasn't really sure what was going on. But he just sort of stood in the entrance to the dorm, looking at his no longer on fire bed. Well. No one could claim that Hogwarts wasn't exciting? "Why was my bed on fire...?" That seemed like a reasonable question to be asking.

Asking Duke questions was really....kinda pointless. He just sorta did what sounded interesting. "You can have my bed." He stated, as if that had answered everything in the whole wide world. Now he needed to figure out something else. He liked the idea of fire. Still, he wanted to figure something else out. Maybe he could just figure out the spells. He wanted to study and be a good wizard. There had to be a way he could impress his dad and become a good wizard.
"I didn't meannnn ittttttt." Because in all honesty he meant to only do good things. "I was practicing charms and suddenly there was fire. And the fire got stronger and went more places." Mostly on his roommate's bed. Which was why he'd offered to swap beds. It wasn't like he was too against this.
Have his bed? He guessed that it was nice that his roommate had offered to swap beds considering that he was the one that had set it on fire. But Lysander mostly would have just wanted his own bed. "Thanks," he said, though. Because it seemed rude to just ignore that?
He squinted a little bit. "How'd you make a fire while doing charms? Were you doing a fire charm?" And if he was doing a fire charm, why was he doing a fire charm in the bedroom. That seemed kind of dangerous. What if he'd burnt the whole room down?
