One evening, Riona Belanger had insisted on her favorite sister meeting her for dinner at one of their favorite restaurants in France. She was nearly running late to get ready, because rushing beauty was absolutely absurd, but with her dress, makeup, and smile in tow, the woman left her spot in front of the mirror, apparated into what she hoped would be a deserted alleyway near their destination, and walked calmly to the restaurant to grab a table.
She ordered two glasses of wine almost immediately, one because she wanted it and the second to discourage Maia from complaining, if only briefly, because Riona suspected her sister wouldn't want to be rude. Then she waited.
The place that Riona had chosen to have dinner at was expected. Not that Maia could blame her, it was a beautiful restaurant in France, and the Belangers could only ever have the best. She was however hoping that there was going to be something achieved with this dinner out. She loved her sister, of course, but time where nothing was achieved was wasted time. And it was near Christmas, so there was going to be enough functions where she could converse with her sister.
Entering the restaurant, she found her. Of course with a glass of wine. Riona had continued to ignore that being a problem, and it was starting to get rather tiresome. If her sister was not going to listen to advice and make a fool of herself, that was one thing. But her actions had the chance to impact them all, and that was certainly Maia's problem. "Good evening," she greeted pleasantly with a smile, and sitting down across from her at the table.

"Why so stiff?" Riona immediately asked in French with her brow raised once she was settled in her seat across from Maia. The wine was left untouched for now, because Maia was the most important thing for the next few seconds. She continued to speak in French. "How have you been, dear sister?"
Stiff as always, Riona thought, but she was apt to block her thoughts from her sister, who would undoubtedly try to block her own thoughts too. Time for wine.
"Perfectly fine,” she stated, also slipping into French. That was more or less the truth. Though even if it wasn’t, it was still the answer that she would have given. It didn’t matter that she was talking to her sister, any more than if she was talking to a stranger. There was a certain level of perfection that she was expected to be - even around her family. And it did not help that she had to be constantly guarding her mind against them.
Though they all did. A family full of legilimens. It certainly made for an interesting time. “And how are you? Anything of any particular interest to note?” If it wasn’t interesting, or useful, she hardly cared to hear it.

"Impressing the higher ups, as always," Riona said cheekily, just before taking a sip of her drink. No sooner had the liquid entered her mouth did a server approach, and she almost immediately ordered a fish plate, something light but still tasty. She waited for Maia to make her order, took a sip of her drink, then set her wine glass on the table and put her hands in her lap.
At Riona's words, Maia's mouth curled at the corner. Yes, impressing the higher ups. As always. As they did every single moment they were inside the ministry, or around another person that could be influential, that could help them on their rise upwards.
As the waiter came over, she ordered a lamb dish, and took a sip of her wine once they had left. News? She swirled her wind glass in her hand, thinking of whether she had anything to share - anything which she wanted to share. "I'm sure you'll have heard most of it," she mused. "The problem with working within the same department there. Unless you have anything exciting to add?"

Riona looked thoughtful for a moment. She wasn't sure what information she would want to divulge--civil unrest abroad, talks within the International Confederation, all such wonderful information. "I'm learning so much as an assistant to the Confederation, darling sister," she offered, along with a twisted smile.
"Do you know anything new about our brother and...Evanna?" she asked, completely changing gears. This was a very important topic.

"You're learning so much, and yet have nothing of interest to share?" Maia questioned, looking at her sister. "My, isn't that a shame," she took another sip of her drink, before placing the glass down onto the table.
Riona changed the topic suddenly, and Maia tilted her head to the side. "No, I do not. I have not spoken to either of them recently." And it was not as though Kody was particularly the sharing type, even when they did interact. At this point, Maia did not care enough to delve deeper into what was happening there. It was not worth the effort. "Perhaps I should invite her out for dinner. That could be entertaining..." especially considering she couldn't protect her mind from legilimency. "Have you found out anything?"
