Artemis loved her job. Honestly, it was all she had ever wanted to do with her life. As a recent grad, the profession still held a certain amount of wonder and awe to her - however, she doubted she would ever grow out of the phase, not truly. She was in the baby stages of her career - learning all about the creatures that roamed the Earth and how to best care for and advocate for them. She'd never dreamed of doing anything else.
Since moving away after school, Artemis had taken to visiting this little shop, Borgin and Burke's, quite regularly. It was a little dark and a little dank, but, she liked the way that it always had the most interesting, unique artifacts. She visited it a few times a week, always looking for anything that had even the slightest involvement with magical creatures.
As she entered the shop, the bell above the door dinged lightly, and she stepped into the dim interior. She beelined towards her favorite spot, and began investigating a few artifacts there. She didn't have much money, so it was only window shopping for now. As she picked up what looked to be a dragon tooth, a voice rang behind her. Nearly jumping, Art barely managed to avoid dropping the precious item. She turned to even the person with a glare. How rude to be so loud.
it had never been an especially political person. After all - Muggle lovers and Purebloods alike loved quidditch, and him, equally. Plus, as a Half-blood, Kit never really had his own horse in the race. Therefore, he felt no shame in visiting some of the dodgier places in wizarding London. Those tended to be the places where he found unique items. The sorts of items that made women swoon... among other things.
The professional Seeker had been to Borgin and Burkes on a few occasions before, particularly appreciating their collection of dragon paraphernalia. It was his own sort of superstition, but Kit felt like keeping the spirit of dragons close to him granted him speed and strength to outwit, outplay, and outlast his competitors. Plus, of course, dragons were sexy.
On this particular day, Kit was aiming to expand upon his collection. After asking the lady behind the desk if there were any new dragon-related items, she pointed to a section on the back wall where a female customer was browsing. As she picked up an interesting dragon tooth, Kit peered over her shoulder to inspect it himself. When she did not seem aware of him, Kit raised his voice to ask, "What do you think - Ukrainian Ironbelly?" As she turned around to face him - with a glare no less - Kit leaned back and flashed his signature grin. It never failed him.
It felt like the words had fallen out of her head, as she turned around and faced the man who had begun to speak to her. The glare that had situated itself over her features originally now began to fall away as the smile that the man wore warmed something inside of her. For some reason, something about this man made her want to talk to him. That was a new sentiment for Artemis, as she usually tried to avoid talking to people while she could. Her accent made it harder for people to understand her around here, and she hated having to repeat herself.
She eyed the tooth in question after a moment, realizing the silence was stretching on uncomfortably. "It's certainly long enough to belong to one. Perhaps not quite sharp enough, though. But, dragon studies are not exactly my area of expertise. Is it yours?" She asked politely, holding out the tooth for him to study for himself. As a magizoologist, she had definitely spent some time studying dragons. However, given their unique qualities, it took a whole seperate profession to become completely proficient on them, and she most certainly wasn't at that level.
