Risa groaned as she rolled over in the hotel's queen-sized bed. Dim light filtered in through the opening in the curtains and she glared at it, one hand grabbing a pillow from behind her to stuff in front of her face. Of course the sun was already shining. They were in freaking Egypt. Egypt was the least Christmasy place in the world to her. It was still despairingly hot even during this time of the year and, unlike in England, the sun was far too bright and shiny. As it was now.
Their parents had left, by her groggy estimations, an hour ago when it was still dark. The day before they'd found a new discovery on their dig and it being Christmas Eve meant very little to the two researchers when they were "this close" to a break through. The worst part of it was that Risa couldn't even be mad as this was the only life she recalled living with her parents-- They were deeply invested in their work, sometimes she thought more so then their own children on occasion. But they always surprised her with kindness in the end.
Still, she could blame them for rousing her with their quiet whispers (she was always a light sleeper). She could also blame them for the fact they were in stupid Egypt and she wanted to be back at Hogwarts where there was snow and the seasons knew their job, thank you. Instead she was here, dreadfully awake, and with no chance of getting back to sleep any time soon. It's another ten minutes of desperate determination before the girl gives up with a groan. Pulling herself upright in bed she glanced at Lorelei's still sleeping form before frowning to herself.
She stretched and padded across the room to the door that adjoined theirs and their parents to form a much larger suite. At least she could never complain she didn't have her own bed. Glancing back at her sister she closed the door behind her before flicking on a light, pulling out a book, and curling up at the end of the sofa to read. While she very often shared her parents passion for the creepy, dead, and the gone today's topic remained the very one troubling her most-- Charms.
Risa reads several chapters before she feels the crick in her neck and shifts her head to glance at the clock. It now read nine a.m.-- Her stomach growled as if anticipation for breakfast. "Yeah, yeah," she muttered to herself, "do you ever shut up?" She clambered to her feet before grabbing some clothes out of her bag. At least she'd given her sister nearly two more hours of sleep-- More then she could say for herself.
Another yawn led her back to their room where she opened the door. "YO!" She half-shouted without further ado, careful not to get into any possible whacking range from her younger sister. "Get up if you want to eat today. We need to get stuff before all the weirdos come out. You know mum and dad aren't gonna be back until late." It was normal fare, after all. Which meant they had to figure out how to scrounge up a decent family dinner in a hotel. Maybe a Christmas tree. At least some things never changed.
