"Clarity Smith, rule breaker" wasn't a title Clarity currently held. Adventurous, nosy- maybe. But heading out to the North Tower at night wasn't below her means, and she had done it before. Without getting caught.
The stars were particularly pretty, so she wanted to see them. Classes were stressful, everything was stressful. Except plants- they were never stressful. Valentines Day was coming up, and her plan was to enjoy all the Hogsmeade chocolate on her own. Clarity turned her attention back to the stars, which where shinning bright. She sighed. She longed to be a star, but Clarity knew she was probably just a wild flower. Easily looked over. Clarity didn't mind that at times- now, for instance- but she just wanted to be noticed for something good.
She heard a creaking noise, and Clarity snorted, her attention still at the stars, "If your a prefect- I gladly accept detention; otherwise, welcome to the rule breakers group, we're currently accepting applicants. And by we, I mean me."

Dan hated prefect rounds. He liked being a prefect but these later nights weren't his favourite. Right now he wanted to be sat in the common room, preferably with a book and a roaring fire. However he knew he had to take the good with the bad and just decided to get on with his rounds.
This evening, Dan hadn’t seen many students wondering around after hours which was lucky for him. He hated having to tell them to move along, especially Slytherins they always caused the most trouble. Next on his duty was the North Tower. There was almost always someone up there and he had been told specifically to head up that way.
Climbing the stairs, he came to the top. Before he even caught a glance of them, a voice spoke. He smirked at the comment. At least they weren't in denial about their rule breaking. "Well today is your lucky day," he spoke as he peeked around the corner. "It's a detention and 10 points from Hufflepuff," he could have spoke with more authority and enthusiasm but the girl already knew her fate. "You do know this is part of prefect rounds right?"
Clarity snorted, picking at her soft purple pajama pants that had penguins on them. With a penguin shirt and a disheveled bun on top of her head, she must have been the best sight to see. And she had expected this, but maybe she had been hoping to find someone to bond with instead of getting in trouble. Darn teen movies and their unrealistic expectations.
"Of course. It's just that when I do come up here, no one actually bothers to check. Of course, I don't come up here that often if I do come out at night, so maybe that's got something to do with it." She said brightly and turned to look at the prefect. "I can make that ten points back in Herbology. I just couldn't sleep tonight, and the stars were just a little too tempting." She quirked her brow and gave him a simple but friendly smile, "You don't seem too happy to be out and about at this hour. I didn't catch your name?"

Did she hear him? Students were getting much more comfortable with authority these days, he thought to himself. Although he was glad she hasn't started screaming at him or attempted to slap him, that had been past experiences. "Well make it 30 points then," he continued, puffing out his chest slightly. This prefect malarkey was hard.
The girl didn't seem particularly fussed by his presence, even when she was stood in her pyjamas in the middle of the night. When she mentioned him not looking happy at having to do the rounds, he shrugged slightly. "Would you be? I'd much rather be warm in bed." He was glad that it was a slightly later start for lessons in the morning, he found it hard when he didn't get enough sleep. "I should be asking you the same question! I'm Dan." @clarity
Clarity sighed, not sure if she'd made him angry or what, "I will work my hardest in trying to make that up." She nodded.
"Would you be? I'd much rather be warm in bed." Clarity smiled. A guilty feeling settled in her chest; she hadn't tried to make it harder for him, she just couldn't sleep. She played an "I'm sorry" on her lips before he spoke up.
"I should be asking you the same question! I'm Dan." Clarity walked over to the prefect, her still-kind expression on her face, "I'm Clarity." She then looked down at her hand oddly. Was she really offering to shake hands with a prefect?
Suddenly this was very awkward but the deed was done and if he ignored it that was fine, too. DAN OSCAR WOLFE ,

Dan nodded. "I should think so," he said, trying to sound authoritative. He wasn't exactly going to check up on the girl, but it was part of his responsibilities.
He was starting to feel bad now for this girl. As she apologised, he looked down not wanting her to feel like she had put him out. "Don't worry. You'll know for next time." Next thing he knew the girl had offered her hand and was introducing herself. "Nice to meet you Clarity. Do you come up here often then?" he asked, making the most of actually having someone to talk to this late in the evening.
"Nice to meet you Clarity. Do you come up here often then?" Dan asked, taking her hand and shaking it. Clarity visibly relaxed, glad he was talking to her.
"When I need to think, I do. Sometimes I like to do homework up here as well. How about you? Do you have a spot you feel most comfortable in?" She asked him, her brown eyes regarding him curiously. DAN OSCAR WOLFE,
