Although a family reunion could have perhaps waited until Apollo was graduated, Athena found she had too much time on her hands. And what better way to spend it than with her brothers, because of course she was dragging useless, mopey Ares along with her. If she didn't have practice, he also didn't have practice,. so he had no excuse to not join the meeting she was setting up. Except the part where he was being a brat and not cooperating, but Athena could deal with that. They might not be the closest siblings ever, but she knew enough to have some leverage over him if she needed it. It was the first thing she did when she met someone she knew would have a spot in her life outside of just passing. Security, if you will. It was definitely one of her less redeeming qualities, but she wasn't trying to impress anyone.
Instead she was dragging her older brother with her into the Hog's Head to meet their younger brother. This wasn't going to be a disaster at all. She could have picked somewhere else to meet up, but all of the other shops in Hogsmeade were more popular and she didn't feel like dealing with people and Apollo was still limited on where he was allowed to go during the school year. Maybe she should have actually waited. It was too late now though.
Shoving Ares towards a chair, Athena took one on the other side of the table, facing the door. She could tell having his back to the door made her brother uncomfortable, but he could deal with it today and trust her to watch his back while they waited for Apollo,

Athena's eyes narrowed as she studied the woman. She could just feel the situation slipping out of her fingers and she hated it. She hated that there were still people who could manipulate her emotions, who knew more than her, who went through the world with a power she wanted for her own. And she hated that they knew it as well. But she wanted it, craved it like it was food, water, air, and that was the only reason she didn't turn this woman down and walk away right now. "You're not playing fairly," she accused lightly. The words were stiff anyway.

"Old man or not, he's got more game than you do," she shot back without missing a beat, tucking the flask away. She was very unlikely to actually drink it all. People making jabs about the age difference didn't bother her any. She accepted that it was what it was and that she was happy with it. That was all that really mattered.
As he walked into the shop, she followed. Might as well get it all over as quickly as possible. "I'm only here because I don't trust you to get the right things." She said with a shrug. That wasn't entirely true, but he didn't need to know that.

"You can have it back once were finished with this. Assuming I don't drink it all before then. Call it...incentive to get the job done quickly." She gave him a sharp smile, because she knew that he knew she would do it too. As much as she really didn't need to be drinking in the middle of the afternoon, she definitely would to prove a point. And because it was fun to give Osric a hard time. To prove her point even more, she took a swig, eyes on him. "You're taste in alcohol is shit."

Having been on the team for over a year solidly since her disappearance the year before, Athena was starting to feel secure in her place there. She hadn't been kicked off thanks to the staged kidnapping, so she was pretty sure they weren't going to for anything else either. Never mind that the Falcons were known for being aggressive and she certainly fit that bill. What she did struggle with, though, was getting on with her teammates, considering she didn't like half of them. And the half she did like got on her nerves half the time. It was a great combination.
But said tolerable teammates were the reason she was venturing out in the cool October air. Why had she agreed to this? Besides getting Osric to shut up which she could have done without agreeing to help him with some really easy task. Oh well. She couldn't go back on her word now, as much as shed rather be somewhere properly warm.
Apparating to the alley, she headed towards Quality Quidditch Supplies, spotting Ozzy on a bench nearby. As she nearedld she saw the flask in his hand. Without greeting, she reached over and plucked it away from him. "Mine now."

Sometimes it was strange, sharing parts of herself that she'd thought would remain a secret forever with someone else. Sometimes she wanted to take it all back and withdraw back into what she knew and was comfortable with. But sometimes it was nice. There came a comfort of knowing there was someone she could turn to if things went wrong, as unlikely as she was to use that bond outside of an emergency. It put her at ease in a way she hadn't felt in a long time.
It was also no real secret that she slept significantly better with someone else there with her. The trust it required for her to relax and be vulnerable with sleep around someone was great, but having achieved that... It created the sense of safety she needed to sleep through the night without waking up several times.
Except right now that wasn't happening. Blinking a few times, she looked at the empty spot on the bed that should have a person there instead. How annoying. That meant she had to get up and hunt him down now. It wouldn't be too hard; it's not like the house was that large. But all the same, annoying.
Stretching for a moment, she got up from the bed, throwing on the first t-shirt she could find. It was a bit large so probably not hers, but that didn't matter. As she left the room, she noticed the smell of coffee in the air, so she followed that towards the kitchen. It seemed to be the correct decision as she spotted the man she'd been looking for, wandering up beside him. "You did, but not by making coffee," she said as she looked out the window he'd chosen to see the sun still rising. "What are you doing up so early?"

"My mind was made up before I even walked in the room, and you never had a chance at changing it. You should have known that before you even started talking." Because when did anyone ever have a chance at changing her mind about anything? She was stubborn to a fault and someday that was going to really cost her.
Taking the dismissal as it was, she gave him one last somewhat scathing look before turning to head out the door again. She had wanted to make sure all cards were on the table and things were transparent, but perhaps in the future she'd keep more things to herself again. Trust was a mistake.

She stared at him for a long moment. She had thought they'd moved past things like this, saying petty things with the sole intention of hurting each other. Clearly she had been mistaken. This was only serving as a reminder of why she'd gone so long without letting anyone in, without caring about other people.
"You're. Not. Listening." Her tone dropped again, dangerous. "You don't get to have an opinion on whether or not I carry a child, even if it's yours. You don't get to dictate how my body operates. If you want it so badly, you figure out a way to carry it, because that's the only way this is happening."

Instinct told Athena to shut the question down, but if the two of them were meant to be allies now, perhaps she should give out some sort of information. It would help establish a sense of trust between the two of them, and trust throughout a group was important. "Aspects like finding a solution for pureblood families treating their children terribly if they don't show magic." The words didn't link her directly, but it wouldn't be too much a stretch to assume she meant it that way considering she'd mention the aspects were on a personal level before.

"Because it's the most fun position on the team. You get to knock people off their brooms without getting in trouble for it," she answered with a shrug. It was no secret that she wasn't the most docile person. Her teammates knew it and soon the whole league would probably know it. Between her and Icarus, before long no one would want to play against the Falcons, but that just made it even more fun. They would be trying to find ways to stop the two most aggressive beaters in the league. It was definitely one way to gain a reputation in the sport. She looked over to Cora. "You do seeker right?" She hadn't been at Hogwarts very long and she hadn't payed too much attention to their teams since she wasn't on them, but she thought that sounded right.

Athena honestly couldn't fault him there because he wasn't technically wrong. He had been slightly surprising so far. Or maybe she was just in such a bad state that she was unusually transparent. Either way, things were not really going her way. "I don't know that I'd exactly call it exciting..."

She could have snarked at him. She could have been sarcastic. But being her usual self when she was near Edmund probably wasn't going to get her very far, since it never really did, and she needed to actually get something out of him today. She needed to get along with him just long enough to get the answers she'd come looking for.
Sighing and cursing the fact that she would have to be vulnerable for a moment, she looked at the blonde man. "How did you know Ares was it? How did you... We're similar enough in personality that I was hoping maybe you might have some insight for recognizing something like that? Or even just being in love in general." Oh, how she hated this, but she didn't know who else she could turn to.

Athena frowned slightly as he asked her what kind of books she liked. She didn't really have a reference for that type of thing when it came to fictional books. They weren't something she'd really spent much time on yet. But she did have a kind of reference on the types of book she didn't really like from the attempts in the past to branch out. "Definitely not romance," she told him. That much she could be sure on. "Maybe horror?" That was kind of like Dark magic, so maybe she'd like those. It was worth a shot. If not, that was just another type to add to her list of books she didn't like. There was really no losing here.
She didn't really like not knowing things, so to have even asked for suggestions to start with was kind of a miracle. Hopefully this guy could come up with some good ones though, and she'd have an informed opinion for the next time should there be one.

Once the pair were settled again, Athena closed her eyes, just taking in the fact that he was there again after all those months. It hadn't felt like so long when she was still away, but now that she had him again, it felt like it had been a lifetime. Perhaps it had.
"I did," she admitted quietly, as if wanting the words to remain a secret despite her admittance. "Every day. And you missed me too."
