Sometimes it was weird for Leo to think about the fact that it had been about a year since Peter kissed him in the common room. That it had been a year since they moved from just best friends to best friends and even more than that. And it had been an incredibly crazy year. A fall into the lake, piano lessons, two werewolf bites, France, fixing each other from all the hurts... If someone asked, Leo wouldn't change any of it. Sure a lot of it sucked, but it was made them stronger. More persistent. Closer than they'd been before. If they could make it through all the crazy stuff these years as teenagers threw at them, what couldn't they do?
Trying to plan a surprise around Peter wasn't the easiest task Leo had ever partaken in, but he somehow managed to do it more than once. It was honestly a miracle that Peter hadn't sussed out anything about their anniversary though. Unfortunately, it fell on a day that also had classes, but that wouldn't be a problem. That was surprise number one. They were most definitely skipping for the day. Peter would be pleased.
The sun was barely up, but Leo couldn't sleep anymore. It was a mix of excitement and also just because he never slept well anymore. So instead he just stayed in bed and stared at the ceiling, not wanting to wake the sleeping boy next to him. Not yet at least. Soon though. When the room was a little brighter. Or maybe not until the morning was clearly turning into afternoon. A little bit of sleeping wasn't a bad thing. Maybe he'd also get some more sleep, though that wasn't very likely.
Peter Anthony was asleep, so Peter wasn't having any of those thoughts. Instead, he was dreaming about a marshmallow village, complete with a marshmallow king and a marshmallow queen and marshmallow knights. They were flying marshmallows, which made it even better because he loved flying.
Suddenly, the marshmallow people were screaming. There was an evil beast running throughout the kingdom tearing them all to pieces.
Peter woke up suddenly and stared across the room toward the light. It wasn't the first time he'd had a dream like that. He was just glad he didn't have them every night and that he could wake up next to Leo. He rolled over and wrapped his arms around the other boy, not even paying any attention to whether he was awake. He snuggled up close and rested his face against Leo's neck and closed his eyes to go back to sleep. Sleep was good.

Having been lying there for a while, Leo startled just a little when Peter woke up and clung to him even more. That hadnt been something he had expected any time soon, but he didnt speak for fear of ruining their sleeping in, or well Peters at least. So instead, he just reached up and gently ran a hand through the other boys hair as a sort of gentle reassurance that he was there. Hopefully the small action didnt wake Peter fully and they could remain in bed a while longer before the surprises came to light.

Leo felt the whisperig against his neck more than he heard what Peter was saying. He just kept running his hand through his boyfriends hair. "Shhh, go back to sleep, Peter," he said quietly in an attempt to not full rouse the other lion "We dont have to get up yet."
Peter stayed perfectly still and kept his eyes shut. He was somewhere between sleep and awake, if only because Leo kept him anchored there. When he started to talk again, he moved his head just enough to talk out of the side of his mouth. "Can skip class this morning."

Leo shushed him again, apparently hoping against hope to get Peter back to sleep again. He wasn't going to comment on class right this second if only because that would surely wake Peter up completely. The morning was still young and they had time. Plus Leo wouldn't mind a little more sleep himself. With a second shush just for good measure, he shut his own eyes to try and drift off again.

Having finally managed to fall back asleep, Leo was not at all pleased to be shaken awake again. Making a somewhat grumpy noise, he opened one green eye to look at Peter. "No class, go back to sleep," he mumbled as he rolled to try and hide from the light again. Peter was too bouncy to hide in right now though, so he settled for stuffing his face into a pillow.
No class? "Oh, okay." Well, that worked out. Peter sat there for a moment looking down at Leo. Why weren't they going to class? Leo's face was against the pillow, but Peter leaned over him and tried to feel his forehead anyway. "Are you sick? What's wrong, Leo?" Oh man, he hoped Leo wasn't sick. Sick was bad. Sick was icky.

When Peter didn't go back to sleep and started to be noisy instead, Leo groaned and batted his hand away. "Not sick," he mumbled. "Sleepy, shhh." This wasn't going to plan at all. He just wanted a little more sleep. He never slept well, but right now he wanted to try. Just cuddle up to Peter and convince him to shush. Solid plan. "Shhhh," he mumbled again as he rolled to burrow in Peter's side instead.
Well, as long as Leo wasn't sick and they were skipping class....Peter wrapped an arm properly around Leo and leaned against him and the pillow. He closed his eyes and tried to sleep, but now that he was thinking about Leo and missing class, he was sure he couldn't sleep. So he lied there with his eyes wide open and gently stroked Leo's hair. Honestly, this was better than sleep, so he wasn't complaining.

While the touch on his hair was indeed very nice, it was also keeping Leo from falling back asleep because he was too focused on the feeling. It was a nice feeling, soothing. He wanted to bottle it and keep it somewhere safe forever, so that he'd have Peter's touch with him even if he had to be away from the other boy. Humming quietly to show that he wasn't actually back asleep, he nuzzled closer to his boyfriend.
Peter smiled when Leo started humming and got closer. Perfect. Did this mean Leo had given up on sleeping after all? "Since we're not going to class, you wanna sneak into Hogsmeade?" he asked quietly. He continued to stroke Leo's hair, but he was completely quiet after his question. Listening to the other boy hum....Well, just like everything else with Leo, it was the best. Perfect, really.

Though he was awake, Leo wasn't sure he was awake enough for proper conversations and making decisions. All the same, he shifted enough to be able to look at Peter with one eye. The room was entirely too bright for his comfort, but he'd have to get used to it sooner or later. "S'too risky," he mumbled after a moment. "Forest?" As much as he was normally opposed to forests nowadays, it was much less likely to get them caught out of class.
