Peter was...confused. A little sad, a little heartbroken. A little unsure. A little angry. Learning that his boyfriend was dating someone else was kind of devastating, but also learning from the other person was a special kind of devastating. He was devastated. What was Leo thinking keeping something so important from him?
Was Leo even thinking?
Peter was convinced.
His boyfriend was the biggest idiot in the world.
And Peter was devastated.
He was sure Leo would be in their dorm. He wasn't sure what he would say, but he knew where to find Leo. Peter had been stewing over the problem for quite awhile, and it was time he got his thoughts out. But he wasn't sure what his thoughts were. He wasn't sure what any of it was. He scrambled into the Gryffindor Tower and walked slowly up the stairs to their dormitory, but he just stood in the doorway and stared at Leo with a look of hurt and tears in his eyes. Peter didn't know what to say, so he didn't say anything.

the biggest idiot in the world
LOTS OF WORDS
It was rare for Leo to not know where Peter was. Even with the disaster that had been winter holidays, he still made sure he knew. Except this time he didn't know and it was bothering him. There were only so many places that were likely and most of them had already been exhausted and crossed off the list, so Leo headed to the dorm instead. That was the most likely place anyway. Except that it was empty when he got there. Huh. Either way, he would just wait it out there. Peter would show up eventually and his worries would be assuaged.
Hearing the door opening, Leo's gaze shot upwards, but the sight before him didn't ease anything. It only made it worse. Something was very, very wrong. "Peter?"
Suddenly, all but one of his feelings fell at once into his stomach. Peter's face didn't change, but his voice was quiet and neutral. "'Peter'? That's all you can say?" He quickly wiped at his face with the back of one of his hands and crossed his arms over his chest, feeling extremely insecure all of a sudden.

To say that he was at a loss was an understatement. Leo had absolutely no idea what was going on or why Peter was suddenly and seemingly randomly upset with him. He tried to think of he'd done anything recently but drew up a blank as he stared at his boyfriend. "Im not really sure what you want me to say. I have no idea what's going on," he replied.
Peter gasped. "What?! What do you mean you don't know what's going on?" he called out exasperatedly. "You've been dating someone for--for--for a month? Longer? I don't know!" His voice was much louder now. "How could you, Leo?!"

Leo blinked both at the volume at which he was being addressed and also because it clicked into place what Peter was talking about. "I'm not dating... The only person I'm dating is you, and I'm fairly certain thats been going on longer than a month." Maybe if he stayed calm Peter would also calm down. Though maybe not. This wasn't going to be a fun talk
"Wh-what? Are you--are you lying to my face now?" There was a spoken rule (spoken because they had agreed to it a long time ago) about not lying to each other about anything ever again and not avoiding each other, so Peter was angry. The sadness and confusion and hurt were still there, but it was the anger that was coming out, and he didn't even realize it. "How could you hide this and then lie to me?! What the fuck, Leonard?!"

"I'm not lying to you! Why the hell would I lie to you about something like that?" He demanded. So much for staying calm. Though he wasn't sure he was more agitated about being shouted at or the fact that Peter had used his full first name which he knew was very strictly against the rules.
"Oh, are you angry too?" Peter half-shouted, uncrossing his arms to throw them up in the air. "Great, just great, brilliant really. My boyfriend decides not to tell me there's a girl in his life and pretends like I'm the bad guy. That's just fucking great, Leo! Is this because of your father? Why are you listening to him? What did he do? What did I do wrong?" He was still visibly angry, but there were fresh tears now.

At the sight of the tears, any anger Leo had been feeling vanished in a blink. Getting angry too wasn't helping and he couldn't stand to see Peter cry. "You didn't do anything wrong, Peter. You're perfect just how you are," he said calmly and quietly. "And I'm not dating Lyanna or listening to my father. He's trying to force us into a marriage to salvage both families' reputations as much as possible, but neither of us want to do that. We just... We have to pretend that we're not against it until we're of age."
Leo's expression changed and he started explaining himself, but the damage didn't go away. Peter ignored the fresh tears except to blink them away. "Of age? What does that mean, Leo? What the fuck does that mean? Is that why you've been pushing me away outside the dorm? Leo, you're fourteen! Of age is three years away! I'm supposed to be okay with this for three years?
"Well?!" Peter wasn't very well giving Leo the chance to respond, but he demanded answers just the same.

Trying and failing to not curl in on himself, Leo looked at Peter, now on the verge of tears himself. "I'm nearly fifteen," he protested weakly. Not that that changed anything. It didn't make it easier. It didn't make it go away. "I don't have a choice..."
Leo's reaction softened something in Peter, but it wasn't enough. He was tired of Leo's father. He was tired of not feeling like enough. And he was tired of Leo keeping things from him because he thought it was a good idea.
"You're an idiot!" Peter barked. "You--you're the biggest idiot in the world, Leo! How do you not have a choice? Am I not important enough? Did you--" he choked on a sob, because anger was quickly turning to despair. Peter didn't want to lose Leo, but did Leo not feel the same way? He was obviously fine spending time with Lyanna. More quietly, he asked, "What is going on with you?"

Before he could even think about what he was doing, Leo was off his bed and across the room, gently reaching up to wipe away any tears on Peters face. "Of course you're important enough. You're one of, if not the, most important people in my life. But I can't risk losing my family. I can't risk my father retaliating in a way worse than this. I can't do that to my mother." His mother was the only reason he even agreed to fake this. "I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry. Please dont cry. You know I can't handle when you cry."
Peter shied away from the touch and swallowed hard. He looked down at the floor, crossed his arms over his chest again, and tried to fight back the tears. He was so hopelessly awful, crying at the slightest bit of problems. Hopeless. The mention of Leo's mother didn't help anything, because now Peter just wanted to cry even more.
Which he did.
"Why didn't you tell me?" he asked slowly, hoping it would keep the sobs out. "You're such an idiot."
