Okay. She was at work. She needed to focus, and hopefully keeping productive and busy would distract her from her woes. Most people said that keeping busy was the key to keeping afloat from falling into depression, since one wouldn't have the time to care about sad stuff. Belle hoped that would work. She would consume herself wholeheartedly into playing the role of a good salesperson and do her best to forget she was a heartbroken young woman. She didn't want to disappoint Klaus, and she didn't want to appear stupid in front of Kira either. Most of all, she just didn't want to have to feel pain any longer.
Unfortunately, the moment she came into the shop, she could already feel her heart sinking. Everything in it was reminding her of Thomas. Thomas had been fascinated with the merchandise at Phantasie, a reason that had influenced her choice in working there. And then it was hard pretending to be cheerful and happy around the customers when inside all she wanted to do was to ruminate about her woes. Apparently, forcing herself to act the opposite of how she was feeling wasn't really helping. Maybe it was because she wasn't dealing with her emotions but was trying to numb them...but what else could she do when she had to work? She couldn't just ask for days off so she could get over a heartbreak. And she didn't even know how long that would take for her to do.
The pain was excruciating though, too much for her to really maintain her resolve. After the last customer left, Belle closed her eyes and took a breath before sulkily walking over to a corner and covering her face with her hands, groaning miserably as she did so. She probably looked dumb but it didn't matter to her at the moment. She just needed to settle down the chaotic thoughts spinning in her mind. This was so stupid. What she wouldn't give to be stronger than this.
