Maverick felt ready to just give up. He'd made the reserve team right before the end of term last year. And then what happened? Somehow he'd gotten booted off. Apparently fighting would get you kicked off of activities. He wasn't really sure what had happened but now he wasn't allowed to be on the team. For some reason he was still allowed to be in the Dueling Club, but he hadn't really figured everything out.
Basically he was on thin ice all around Hogwarts. He didn't want to deal with anyone or anything like that. But that wasn't really allowed. Instead he found himself practically feeling like rolling into his own little world. It might be a lot better if he just did his own thing? So he moved into the Quidditch pitch. Even if he wasn't allowed to be on the team, he could still go into the air. There was nothing about him not being allowed to fly on his own time.
Although she did get to fly during the holidays, it wasn't quite the same as flying at school. She couldn't go as high, because while they didn't live very close to their neighbours, there were still around somewhere. So if they were careful they could fly, but they couldn't go up and up and then dive all the way back down, and all sorts of other things. Which was sad.
So now that she was back at school, Kathleen decided that was something that she wanted to go. Maybe she could find her brother later and get him to help her practice? She liked practicing with Aeron, or just hanging around her brother in general. Even though she might not say that to his face. And he probably wanted his little sister to leave him alone. She shrugged, reaching the pitch. Oh Mav was here too. Maybe that was better than her brother. "Maaaaaav!" she yelled, as she moved further into the pitch.

Being in the air did nothing to sooth him. Maybe if he just started setting fires he could get someone kicked off of the team? Not Kathleen, because she was the whole reason for the sport. She was amazing at it and just...amazing in general. But he could get one of the younger kids kicked off. Like Black or Ladvick or maybe that other second year. If he got all three of them kicked off, then it wouldn't matter. He could do whatever with zero issues.
Hearing his name, he moved over to the person calling his name. He did lower himself to the ground. "Kathleen! How are you?" And without hesitating at all, he wrapped his arms around her in a hug. She was the only person who mattered, really.
"I'm good!" she said cheerfully, hugging him back. "How are you?" She was here to fly, and Mav was here, what else did she have to complain about? Everything was fine. She was itching to fly and loop around in a way that she couldn't get away with during the holidays. Except she didn't have Renee here to fly with her either, and that made her a bit sad. Why couldn't Renee have been magical too like Cora? That would have been fun.
