To say that Athena was incredibly grumpy would have been a bit of an understatement. But then she was in a state of perpetual grumpy anyway. It was still very rare for her to be anything but, especially when she was voluntarily dealing with people that annoyed her. She hadn't even knocked on the door yet and she was already annoyed. Maybe she should just skip the knocking. That could be fun. She was sure if her brother found her in the house he wouldn't be too torn up about it. Yeah, definitely skipping the knocking. Instead she just waltzed right in the house.
Now her options were wait around for Edmund to turn up eventually or go find him. The risk with going to find him was also finding her older brother. That wasn't really something she was risking right now, so waiting it was. Maybe with some food. Yes, that was a great idea. The kitchen wasn't hard to find and soon the snack was obtained. Sitting at one of the stools lining the island in the room, she waited.
The problem with having a career that was highly top secret meant that he couldn't bring his work home with him. Well, in most regards that was a good thing, because then he wasn't doing said work at home. It was less of a good thing when his mind was trying to sort out a problem, and he couldn't have the work in front of him to try help with that.
Giving up on the book that he was attempting to read, and deciding that lunch was in order, he moved his way to the kitchen. And then paused in the doorway. "I do believe you are the one Kastor that does not belong in this house," he commented. The other two at least lived here, even if it was only for part of the year for Apollo.

Hearing the sounds of footsteps, Athena lifted her eyes to the doorway of the room. She hoped it wasn't Ares coming for a snack, and she was pleased when she saw a shock of blonde hair instead of brown. Perfect.
Leaning back in the chair, she shrugged at Edmund. "That doesn't make me unwelcome in the house," she pointed out. Mostly because she knew Ares would take issue if Edmund tried to kick her out even when she showed up uninvited. "Besides, I couldn't announce that I was coming over because then Ares might find out and you're the one I'm here to talk to."
Edmund wasn't sure whether he agreed with the her being welcome bit. He certainly hadn't welcomed her. Though Ares had. That was the problem with sharing a house with someone, wasn't it? They brought all of their unwanted guests in too.
"Oh delightful," he said sarcastically. Not only did he have to deal with Athena, she didn't even want her brother. "And to what do I owe this pleasure?" he was regretting his decision to come and eat lunch.

She could have snarked at him. She could have been sarcastic. But being her usual self when she was near Edmund probably wasn't going to get her very far, since it never really did, and she needed to actually get something out of him today. She needed to get along with him just long enough to get the answers she'd come looking for.
Sighing and cursing the fact that she would have to be vulnerable for a moment, she looked at the blonde man. "How did you know Ares was it? How did you... We're similar enough in personality that I was hoping maybe you might have some insight for recognizing something like that? Or even just being in love in general." Oh, how she hated this, but she didn't know who else she could turn to.
Oh Merlin. They were going to talk about feelings? Athena had come to him to talk about feelings? He would have found it amusing if it wasn't for the fact that he certainly did not want to have this conversation with her. But it was a little entertaining that she had decided he was the person to come to.
"In love are you?" he asked, because giving her shit was a lot easier than having an actual conversation. It had taken a long time to start getting honest enough to have proper conversations with the people that he actually cared about. Having this type of conversation with Athena... not exactly up there.
