timing: Late January 2012
After her episode in the locker room, Lottie had started to feel immensely better. Damien, the beautiful boy who saved her from her old ways, would always hold a special spot in her heart. If she hadn't fancied him before, he had cemented her feelings for her. She understood now the complications of their lives, how they were twisted and entwined in ways neither of them could describe. He had helped her see that she was better than what her disease was trying to say. Still, she sometimes doubted herself, especially when she was feeling pressured.
Prefect duties had always been a cause of stress for her, but tonight would be even worse. Saralynn had scheduled her with Arkham, as if both girls had a death wish. Lottie reckoned Arkham would be okay if she had a bit more depth to her, and wasn't dating Damien. But Lottie steeled herself to be civil at the very least, and to try to be nice at the very best. She could only imagine Arkham was going through a lot at this moment as well, but she wasn't sure what about. Everyone had their demons- some were just more apparent than others.
Taking a deep, calming breath, Lottie tied her hair back away from her face and left the common room. She and Arkham had arranged to meet in the entrance hall to start their rounds. Lottie was the first to arrive and she fidgeted nervously, her thoughts traitorously moving back to Damien every so often.

Arkham's fingers had laced themselves through Damien's without too much trouble at all. "No. I love you." She wasn't really sure why saying she loved him made her right, but it seemed to be correct. Really she liked getting to see him and be around him. They were almost at a whole year together and that was exciting. And now that Everett was getting along with her well, her life seemed to be almost perfect.
But once she got to where Lottie already was, she pressed a kiss to Damien's lips. "I'll find you after rounds. Okay? Love youuuu." She practically sand the last bit as she moved over to Lottie. She wasn't really sure about the younger girl. They hadn't talked much. At one point, she tried really hard, but she'd been sort of giving up. Most of her time was spent with her boyfriend and that was fine with her. Maybe she should talk to Saralynn about having her work with her boyfriend more. Or even her twin would be just fine.
Still, watching her boyfriend leave, she felt sort of weird. Okay fine. "Are you ready to do this?" She looked at the younger girl and did her best to get a smile without too much trouble. She was a bubbly person and that generally worked for her.

Lottie was determined to at least be civil with Arkham, even though most of her just wanted to push her fellow blonde down the stairs. Or at least figure out a way for her to realise that Lottie and Damien were meant to be, and be happy about it. But that seemed impossible at the moment. Lottie walked quickly up the steps so that she would be on time for her rounds with Arkham. But as she entered the entrance hall, the sight she came out to made her want to turn around immediately.
A wave of nausea rolled over Lottie, freezing her in place as she watched the interaction between Arkham and her boyfriend. Her lips turned downwards and a crease formed on her forehead. It was distressing at the very least to watch. She didn't know if Damien had caught sight of her, but Arkham definitely had. The pair separated and Arkham sauntered over to her. Lottie did her best to move her feet, but still she was frozen in place.
Was she ready to do this? The honest answer was no. But Lottie steeled herself and nodded, forcing a grin on her face. "Yep." She got her legs to work again and started off. She didn't really know what to say to Arkham. She didn't know much about her except they were in the same house, she was a year older and she fancied Damien. So They had at least two things in common. "So... have you managed to come to any of the Quidditch matches lately?" asked Lottie, deciding that it was the safest route to take.

The small blond didn't seem settled with Arkham there. Why? They'd done rounds before, right? She was struggling to remember but that seemed correct. "Awesome! Then let's get started!" She wasn't going to let some girl's weirdness bother her at all. Instead she'd just keep doing her own stuff and everything would work out. She was a good prefect most of the time and that was really what mattered. She wouldn't have to focus on anything else.
"Oh yes! I love watching you guys play." Sure, she only started coming to matches once she started dating a Quidditch player. But that wasn't....something that needed to be stated out loud. Instead she'd just say things. But everything else was going to be just fine in her little world. "You're really good. Are you planning on going professional after Hogwarts?" She sort of assumed that, but it was worth a shot asking it.
