Graduation was around the corner. It was so close it was almost starting to panic Tesla. So naturallyhe left Hogwarts over the Christmas break. He planned on going to see his favorite Iris. Maybe she'd know something about being an adult? She'd been out of school for a few months, so she knew things.
Even if that wasn't the cast, there was still animagus training. Tesla still couldn't do anything with it, but he wad trying hard. His instructor actually had told him that he needed to go write a paper on what he thought his inner animal was. Which completely bewildered him more then usual. So he had not done that instead just rolled down a large hill.
But knocking on Iris's door, he felt sort of odd. She'd know far more then him amd a small voice in his head was almosy upset at that idea.
Iris had been out of school for nearly a year now, and she was still adjusting to truly being considered an adult. Her and Bex were working things out, despite their jobs keeping them apart on a somewhat regular basis. It was sad, but they were planning a vacation they could take together, so that was something to look forward to. It was just a matter of when they went and where they would go. These were important things of course, but it wasn’t as if the two of them had a lot of time together in order to plan these things. Still, they really needed to do that so she made a mental note to really work on that next time she saw her girlfriend.
Anyway, there was a knock on her door, and she was a bit confused as she hadn’t really been expecting anyone. She opened the door and smiled when she saw Tesla. Right, she did suppose it was Christmas break wasn’t it? ”Hi Tesla!” she said with a smile. ”Come in, what brings you here?” she said inviting him in and asking the standard question when someone appeared onto your porch unannounced. She was curious as to what was new with him, as he was head boy and Quidditch captain now so that was probably a bit stressful right? ”Do you want something to drink?” she asked him with a raised eyebrow as she walked towards the living room once she shut the door behind him.

There was some panic in the young Ravenclaw. He was failing as Head Boy. He was failing at being a Quidditch captain. He was failing in classes. He felt like he was failing at everything and he didn't know what he needed to do. Maybe it would be a good idea of him to sit back and try to talk to more people? It couldn't be too bad, right? He just hadn't figured out everything in his life. It'd be good for him to find an adult and talk to them. But most of his adults were related to him. Iris was about the only person he trusted beyond a shadow of a doubt.
"Oh sure. Do you have tea?" Were they even British with a question like that? Still, it had come out of Tesla's mouth and he couldn't help it. But he was happy to follow Iris happily. Anywhere she went, he'd be just fine going as well. "I'm just....failing everything." He wasn't even sure where he was going to end up in his life right now. A job was a job, sure. But he wasn't sure any more. He wanted to be a professional Quidditch player. That'd been his dream for as long as he could remember. But what if he wasn't good enough? Also Animagi training was killing him.
There was a Tesla on her porch, and she was happy to see him. It wasn’t as if he dropped by all that often. Actually, she hadn’t seen him a whole lot since she graduated now that she thought about it. She invited him in and asked if he wanted something to drink. He asked for tea and she nodded. ”Of course, I’ll get some water started,” she said with a grin. Then let him in and skipped over to put a teapot on to get tea started. She wasn’t sure what kind of tea he wanted, but that could be figured out once the water was done boiling.
Then she asked what brought him over and apparently he was failing everything. She was sure that wasn’t the case as Tesla tended to be a little overly dramatic, but she supposed it was about time to sit him down and have him talk it out a little over tea. ”Why do you think you’re failing everything?” she asked him with a slight frown. Surely that wasn’t actually the case right?

Iris was getting tea ready and at least that would help make situations less dire. It was a good thing Tesla was good at Quidditch because otherwise his future had nothing. He wasn't smart enough for a real job. He was dedicated and loyal, but that didn't mean much. "Because I am." He stated, as if that should be obvious. Because wasn't it? He was an idiot and he would continue to be so. Only lately had he become aware of how stupid he was. "I mean Professor Redgrave now completely locks his classroom so I can't even attempt to learn potions."
He'd blown everything up. And when he tried showing that he'd learned and changed, he blew even more things up. The room never smelled the same. "I've been banned from Anicent Runes, potions, and I'm almost banned from Care of Magical Creatures." Professor Lupin seemed to be eying him carefully every time he went to class. "I'm not going to do well. And like....I started training to be an animagus, but that's so hard." Duh. It was the hardest thing he was ever going to do. Probably.
Tesla’s comment about failing made her sigh, what was she going to do with him? Clearly he needed tea and scones and maybe whapped with a pillow to put his head back on straight. ”Well, you did blow up your O.W.L. for potions so he’s not required to accept you into a higher level class, but what did you do to the other Professor Redgrave? He has lots of patience, and how did you manage to upset Professor Lupin? He has a kid that literally glitterbombs his office I’ve seen it,” she said trying to figure out I these professors did actually hate Tesla or if maybe it was all in his head. ”If you really need to learn potions I can teach you,” she said with a slight smile. Of course they would have to learn outside so she continued to have a place to live, but she could try to teach him.
”Of course Animagus training is hard, if it was easy everyone would be one,” she pointed out with a smile. ”I’m training to be one too, I find it kind of fun actually,” she said idly. Maybe she could help him with that too, but there was really only so much Iris could help with considering she hadn’t completed the training either. She could try though, Tesla was one of her best friends so she needed to help him.
