Ajax loved the rush he got from performing on stage. The fans, the lights, people screaming your name. It was addictive. After all the work him and the rest of the band put in, performing was the cherry on the cake.
Ajax had organised a night out after the gig. It was the last one before a short break and a celebration was in order. Jax had worried that having one less member would have ruined The Mercurium but he thought it had brought them closer together. After selling out five nights, the lead singer wanted to treat his band mates. Zone had chickened out so it was just him and Quinn. It would an nice to have a drink with his mate, not worrying about his brothers woman problems.
Having sorted out his equipment nice and quickly, Ajax had got a head start on making his way to the bar. Cap and sunglasses on, he found a nearby late night drinking establishment. Drinks ordered, he squeezed his way past a big group to a quiet, dark table in the corner. Maybe heading to a bar close to where you had just performed wasn’t a good idea but he found that a simple disguise worked wonders, plus he loved the attention.
Drinks on the table, Jax sat waiting for his band mate to join him. Hopefully he remembered his sunglasses this time.
Q was supposed to go to a night out after a gig, and the problem with that was them being recognized. He knew Ajax always brought sunglasses for that, but he really just hated wearing them indoors. He always thought it looked absurd to wear sunglasses indoors at night because if he did then he couldn’t read a menu or really do anything other than walk into tables. He wasn’t that coordinated physically without them on, so he was just going to go with a hat and take the sunglasses off once he got inside. Maybe nobody would notice them even though they were rather close? He hoped not, he was tired and just wanted some snacks and drinks before going to bed. Hopefully the two of them didn’t end up getting too crazy with the drinks tonight.
Q sorted his equipment and noticed Ajax had vanished which meant he was probably late already. He put on a pair of somewhat ridiculous pink sunglasses and a bucket hat before wandering off to where he was supposed to meet his band mate. The sunglasses were kind of just the first ones he could find, and the hat made it look like he was some sort of dude going fishing, but whatever nobody would be looking that close right? Anyway, he ordered a drink, with an odd look from the bartender, then made his way over to sit across from Ajax. At which point he took off the sunglasses and set them on the table. ”You know, we should probably not pick places this close to gigs,” he noted idly before picking up a menu to see what sort of snacks they had.

Ajax took another sip of his drink. He was almost halfway through it before he saw a ridiculous looking man walk into the bar. Pink sunglasses? Really? Jax wanted to be slightly less obvious in this situation but who was he to tell someone what they could and couldn't wear. He watched as a couple of people eyed Quinn as he made his way towards the table. He hoped they were just admiring his hat.
“I know,” Ajax started, picking up Q's sunglasses to try on. “You know I love the attention Q.” Placing the pink frames onto his face he grinned at his friend, posing slightly. “What made you choose these? Didn’t want to draw attention to yourself?” Sarcasm was second nature to the singer, Q must have expected this sort of comment from Jax.
Not wanting to ruin his reputation, Ajax placed the glasses back on the table, following his friends lead by picking up a menu. “Good gig tonight.” He commented, his eyes scanning the plentiful list of snacks. “One of the best, if I say so myself.” Ajax was feeling confident and was looking forward to a good night following this success. He hoped Quinn was up for it too. “Nachos?”
Q thought that it was more likely that people were focusing on what he was wearing rather than who he was, so in a way he was pretty sure the somewhat absurd accessories helped him walk by without recognition. Hard to notice someone’s face if you were staring at the fact that they had pink sunglasses on. He took a seat across from Ajax and snorted as he put the sunglasses on his face. Did he look that ridiculous too? Well, that was fine, he was the kind of person to always look ridiculous. ”I know you do, such an attention whore,” he teased with a grin. ”I can’t see in these dingy bars you pick in normal sunglasses. Pretty sure face planting would get people to notice me more,” he pointed out with a raised eyebrow. ”Besides, nobody is looking at my features if they’re too busy trying to figure out why I’m wearing pink sunglasses,” he stated with a slight smirk.
Then Ajax took the glasses back off and he smiled at the comment. ”It felt like one of our best definitely,” he said with a grin. Then his friend asked about nachos and he nodded. ”Nachos are always good, and cheese sticks. Two things that are really hard to get wrong in a bar,” he said with a shrug. Q was pretty sure they would end up ordering an absurd amount of food by the end of the night to go with their drinks, but that was fine. It wasn’t as if the two of them wouldn’t be able to cover it. Though, they probably shouldn’t spend all of their earnings in one night right after getting it.

Ajax laughed at Quinn's comment of face planting in the middle of the bar. It was true, maybe that would have drawn more attention. "This bar isn't dingy," he commented, looking around at the dark and smokey environment. "Well maybe just a little. At least the darkness can hide us in the shadows." He took a sip of his drink and raised an eyebrow.
"Great," he said, when his band mate agreed to nachos. Jax was always starving after coming off stage. The adrenaline always took over disguising the cries of his stomach. "They're on me." Getting up squeezed his way to the bar ordering plenty of snacks that would keep them going and a round of shots. Q couldn't say no if they were already paid for.
"One sambuca for you. and one for me," he placed them down on the table, not looking at the reaction of his friend. "Cheers," he lifted his shot waiting for Q to lift his. "I know these are your favourite."
Hearing the comment about the bar Q looked around a little before looking back at his best friend and raising an eyebrow at him. ”Really,” he said before Ajax admitted that it was at least a little dingy. ”I suppose that’s fair, but still we both know I’m only coordinated when it comes to climbing trees not navigating bars while drinking,” he said with a slight laugh. The number of bar floors he had been on was far too high. This was the sort of bar where he didn’t want to think about what exactly was on the floor either, so he was kind of hoping he didn’t land on it.
Ajax wandered off to get nachos on him, and how could he turn that down? Thus he just waited for Ajax to return and when he did it was with a shot as well. Oh dear, this was going to be one of those nights wasn’t it? He picked up the shot and clinked the glass with his best friend’s before downing it and wrinkling his nose a little at the taste. Hearing the comment about them being his favorite he snorted a bit. ”If I wake up in my bathtub again tomorrow you’re getting a howler,” he teased with a grin. More than once he had woken up there after a night of drinking with the other snake. Why that was his go to place to sleep when drunk was beyond him, but he was a weird guy so it shouldn’t really be that surprising he supposed.

Ajax laughed at remembering the drunken nights with Quinn. He was right, drink plus Q equaled floor. Not like he hadn't been in bad ways before after a heavy night but Q somewhat lost all his coordination. Luckily it didn't affect his great guitar skills. Jax knew the band would be in trouble without his friends talent.
The shot wasn't particularity pleasant but he was willing to make a sacrifice in the name of celebrating. The warmth of the liquid made his shoulders relax and his confidence grow. "But bathtubs are so comfortable Q. Means you can wash away all the drunken embarrassment." He licked his lips, trying to rid his mouth of anymore sambuca. In his time, Jax hadn't ended up in the bath. It was usually the fridge or just outside his house. "Although I did go and put some pillows in the tub just incase. Don't want you hurting your back do we?"
The bar was getting busier and busier. Ajax was glad he had picked them a table in corner away from the hordes, it meant he could eat the nachos in peace. "Yum," he said, his mouth full. "These are good." Pushing them towards his friend, he looked up noticing a sign on the wall nearest the door. "Ah man," he said, pointing at it so Q could look. "Dance off competition tonight!" Jax was not the best at dancing but the shot and drink had made this the best thing ever. "We've got to enter."
It usually took a few hours for him to get there, but he always inevitably ended up on the floor somewhere after a night of drinking then woke up with bruises he only partly remembered getting. He did not understand how anyone could pass those sobriety tests while heavily intoxicated because he could barely take a step without stumbling in one direction or another let alone walk a completely straight line for several feet. Then again, he wasn’t particularly skilled at walking straight lines like that while sober either so maybe that was why he had such trouble with it. Anyway that wasn’t important right now.
Ajax’s comment had him raising an eyebrow. ”They’re not that comfortable, and taking showers with your clothes on is more of a hassle because getting your wet jeans off afterwards is a nightmare,” he pointed out with a slight frown. Then he snorted at the comment about pillows. ”How kind of you, I’ll add soggy pillows to my list of reasons to not sleep in the shower,” he said with a shake of his head. Then he started stuffing his face with nachos and talk of sleeping in tubs was forgotten. Then Ajax was pointing at a poster and Q raised an eyebrow at his best friend. ”I thought you were trying to not attract attention to us?” he pointed out with a slight smirk. It would be a bit difficult to avoid attention if you were in a dance competition, or had Ajax forgotten about that want already?

Ajax was enjoying this time with his friend. It wasn't often they got to do this so he was making the most of it. Grabbing some of the nachos for himself he almost stuffed them down his face. Performing was a hungry task and lunch was a long time ago. "Love nachos," he commented between mouthfuls, "We might need to get some more at some point."
After making the presence of the poster known to his friend all he could think about was the moves they could bust out. "I know we don't want to attract attention, but who doesn't love an audience. If you put your glasses on and i'll conjure in another pair, no one will know who we are." Jax only half believed what he was saying, those glasses were definitely not something you'd use to get away with anything. "You up for it?" He wasn't sure about Quinn wanting to get up and dance. Maybe a couple more drinks might help.
Q chuckled as Ajax commented on loving nachos and that they would probably need to get more at some point. ”If you keep eating them like you’re going to die without then yeah probably. We may also need a bucket from you eating too fast while drinking,” he said while eating nachos like a normal person instead of trying to shove all of them in his mouth immediately. And people said he was the disaster, clearly they didn’t know Ajax if they thought there was only disaster in their band. Actually, they were arguably all a disaster in their own way. How did they manage as a band when they were all just giant messes pretending to be adults? Oh well, that was band life for you right?
Q just snorted at the comment about the glasses hiding their identities. ”We both know that argument is bad and you should feel bad about trying to even pass that off,” he said with a raised eyebrow. ”I’m dreadful at dancing, all I’m going to do is land you in last place,” he said with a grin and a laugh. He could play guitar and climb trees, but he wasn’t much for dancing unless there was nobody around to see him. ]“If you really insist though, perhaps in a few drinks I’ll be up for it,” he said with a sigh. They were both going to regret this when they got mobbed by fangirls or something, but it was almost inevitable that someone would recognize them before the end of the night if they were dancing in front of a crowd.

Ajax shook his head. "Come on, you know I've got a stomach of steel," he grabbed another handful. Jax tended to know his limits and balanced on the cusp of being a pain and having fun. It probably wasn't the best way to be but he found it difficult to do things in moderation. It was true for the most the band too, there probably wasn't a good influence between any of them.
Taking Q's comments as a yes to joining in the competition Ajax grinned. "Don't worry you'll be up dancing with me," he got up and marched over to the bar to order another drink for each of them, and an entry into the competition. "Done!" he said, placing the drink in front of his friend. He was slightly annoyed that his brother hadn't made it this evening especially now that it was turning out to be interesting. "What's your signature move then Q?" Ajax couldn't help but laugh, for someone who had rhythm he wasn't the best mover.
Q just raised an eyebrow at Ajax. “Sure, we’ll see how that goes for you by the end of the night. If I have to carry you out of here I’m picking on you in the morning,” he said with a smirk while Ajax grabbed more handfuls of nachos and he continued eating them only a few at a time. He supposed he would have to be the responsible one tonight, this would be an adventure wouldn’t it? Well, he supposed every night he spent out with Ajax was an adventure wasn’t it? All of them together were just all sorts of a giant mess weren’t they? Oh well, it was probably fine. They had fun, and that was the important part.
Q sighed and shook his head. Why did he agree to join a dance competition? This was not going to end well for him. He was dreadful at dancing, and avoided it at all costs. Hearing the question, he snorted slightly. ”We both know I don’t have a signature move, I avoid dancing because I don’t know how you fruit loop,” he said with a shake of his head and a roll of his eyes. ”What’s yours then?” he asked with a raised eyebrow. Surely Ajax actually had a signature move of some sort.
