Lottie's trunk was packed, ready for the following morning when the school would depart. She looked around her dormitory. It was hard to come to the idea that she would only be spending two more years here. She couldn't imagine ever leaving Hogwarts, a place she felt safe and loved. She adored her family, but there was something different about Hogwarts. She was among other young, bright minds. She was worthy of this school, which made her feel worthy of magic. And having magic, she was invincible. She wasn't going to bow down to her demons, to give in. Lottie had made it through five years of magical education, she had taken her OWLs and the year was drawing to a close. She had two more years, but some people were graduating today.
Shaking her head slightly, Lottie double checked that everything was packed. Her mind drifted to those who wouldn't be returning to Hogwarts like her next September. There was Damien, her teammate who she had once been convinced was her true love. Time had shown her that it was a simple matter of infatuation. Lottie had grown in more ways than just height this year. She was stronger, taller and smarter. She had captained her Quidditch team to an excellent season. The thought drew her mind to a fellow Quidditch captain.
Ever since the evening Lottie and Tesla had patrolled a few months ago, she couldn't get him out of her head. He had become more than just a friend and a sort of idol. She felt her insides squirm in a more pleasant manner, and had developed the habit of grinning when she reminisced over certain brighter memories. Both being busy with exams, they hadn't been able to hang out much since that day, but they had patrolled a few more times together. None of the patrols had been nearly as exciting or eventful as the first, but Lottie allowed any excuse to be in Tesla's bright and kind company.
Underage students weren't typically supposed to attend Graduation ceremonies, as they were reserved more for the families, but Lottie didn't care. This was the last chance she would get before Tesla went off to be a professional Quidditch player. Steeling herself, she quickly climbed up the steps, crossed the Entrance Hall and burst out into the bright sunlit lawns. Her pace picked up-- she could hear Professor James making a speech. She rounded the greenhouses and rows upon rows of chairs spread out in front of her. She stopped abruptly as the speech finished just after she arrived. People were clapping, rising from their seats. She had missed the entire ceremony? Lottie's face fell.
But then, she spotted Tesla. Her eyes seemed to be drawn straight to him. And then, nothing else mattered. She started running towards him, a hard, blazing look on her face as she threw her arms around him. And without worrying about the fact that dozens of people were watching, she kissed him.
