Edgar turned towards her and Rosalie narrowed her eyes. Crossing her arms over her chest, she looked back at him. "No," she said. "I'm not going anywhere until you tell me what this is about. If you think you can drag me around, and then give me no answers, you're mistaken." She was very unimpressed with this turn of events, and he was going to damn well hear about it.
She turned her gaze to Tolbert. Yeah, right. As if she would be standing here now if Edgar could be controlled. "Well if you're offering..." she said, unimpressed.
"Fuck off!" Edgar spat at Kameron. Never mind that he'd been the one to instigate the interaction. He looked at Rosalie. "His mother walked out on him, and he's pretending like it's not total shit. There's your explanation." He turned back to Kameron, and he didn't bother controlling his volume when he spoke. "You think you can just prance through life with your pretty boy looks and your carefree attitude. What's wrong with you?"

Kameron's eyes narrowed as his annoyance turned into actual anger. "My mother has nothing to do with this, you arrogant piece of shit." It was tempting in that moment to push the other boy away from, but that would likely result in a fall down the stairs and Kameron really didn't feel like spending the rest of the year in detention. Or expelled.
Deciding that he was more than done with other people for the day, Kameron turned on his heel to continue going up the stairs. He didn't have the time or patience to deal with people like Edgar Halifax anymore. He had what he needed and he was out of there for good.
Well, wasn't this a mess and a half. And Rosalie wasn't exactly sure how she was meant to be responding to any of what was going on. She was also pretty certain that she was still missing something. "Be quiet," she hissed at Edgar as his tone started getting louder. "Do you want to cause a scene?" More of a scene. This was clearly already a scene.
Tolbert went to head back up the stairs, and Rosalie moved her hand out of Edgar's to instead grab his arm. "Let him go." Continuing to chase him was really the last thing that they needed.
Edgar made to move onto the step Kameron occupied, but then the boy turned and walked off.
And now Rosalie was grabbing his arm? Who did she think she was, grabbing his arm like that? He was quiet when he hissed at her, but it wasn't any more friendly: "Can't you take my side for once?" He shrugged his arm away and ran up the stairs after the lion.
Edgar tried to snatch up Kameron's arm so he could drag him off down the nearest corridor, out of the way, where he could raise his voice and give the other boy a piece of his mind.

While the Slytherin was distracted, Kameron took the chance to put some distance between himself and the couple on the stairs below him. Maybe he could get far enough away that he'd be out of sight before the other boy no doubt ran after him. How annoying.
The stairs were emptier now, meaning he could hear the footsteps charging up after him. Great. He just wanted to get away and get rid of the anger bubbling under the surface. Anger didn't solve anything. The sound got closer and he whirled around again. "Would you fuck off?"
Oh for merlins - that was rich. Take his side? She was trying to stop him making a damn fool of himself. Not that she particularly cared for his reputation on its own, but right now it was tied up with her own, and that she did care about. "You're being a fool," she hissed after him, following him up the stairs. Perhaps she should have walked away, but she might be able to have some impact on him this way - unlikely.
"Great idea," she said, when Tolbert snapped. "Lets go," she put her hand on his arm again.
With less people in the way, Edgar arrived at Kameron in record time, which made it even easier to ignore Rosalie. He ignored their comments, shrugging off Rosalie's hand and reaching for Tolbert's arm. Even if the stairs were emptier, it wasn't good enough. They needed a private corridor.
"Just admit it! Admit you're angry or sad or whatever, but stop being such a damn...." A damn what, exactly? Edgar hardly knew where he was going with that. "What's so wrong with being my friend?!" That wasn't quite what he had been going for, and it also wasn't the whole truth, since Edgar's plan had involved them hiding their friendship. He wasn't even sure if he cared about the friendship so much as the being used part, but this was going to be settled one way or another.

damned if you do.
Making a very, very disgruntled noise, Kameron moved his arm back away from the hand grabbing it. This was not at all how he'd seen the day going, though days never really did go how he thought they would. This was just worse than anticipated. "I don't have to admit anything to you," he snapped as he moved away again. "And I also don't have to answer to you."
What he really needed to do was get the hell away. His skin felt like it was on fire from the sheer annoyance that was slowly converting itself into legitimate anger. "I told you to leave me alone, so leave. me. alone."
Edgar was persistent. Edgar didn't give up, unless he absolutely had to, and even then he sometimes didn't know when that was. When Kameron resisted, it only encouraged the snake that much more--and when Rosalie decided yet again not to take his side, he spat out at the both of them, "I didn't bloody ask what he wanted." To Rosalie, he added, "You want to go on without me?" without waiting for a response.
"Why do you think I'd just go along with whatever you ask? You're a moron if you think that." It wasn't clear whom he was addressing--maybe the both of them--but he jabbed a finger at Kameron. "I try and I try and fools like you just go through life like everything's fine. Well, it's not fine, and...and..."
Edgar didn't have an and, so he just narrowed his eyes and grunted.

damned if you do.
Kameron was incredibly over what was going on here. He had been having a lovely day until this stupid Slytherin boy had decided to barge in again. He had been sure that they'd closed matters before this and so to have it shoved in his face again was really annoying.
"Just because you want to spend your life being miserable doesn't mean other people have to as well," he shot back. He was torn between getting in Edgar's face out of anger or trying to create more space between the two of them, so he just stayed where he was. "I'm fine with how things are and that's the choice I'm staying with. If you dislike it so much, leave. Literally no one is telling you to stay."
"Well it doesn't seem to matter what i want." Which, yes, she did. She would much rather go off on her own, especially right at this moment.it really was a pity that it looked better that she spent time around her betrothed. She sighed.
"In fact, people seem to be telling you to leave," she tacked onto the end of what Tolbert was saying. "He doesn't owe you anything, no one owes you anything. Get off your entitled high horse and leave him alone."
Edgar wanted to glare at Rosalie, but he was too busy glaring at Kameron. They were both handfuls, Kameron and Rosalie, but he had to keep them around for one reason or another.
He didn't really mind handfuls. They were challenges, and challenges were good, for the right reasons. Muggles and mudbloods weren't good challenges, for example, but Rosalie was a good challenge because she led to marriage, which led to inheriting the company; and Kam...Edgar still couldn't quite place what it was about Kameron that he was so interested in. The potential for control, he thought, but it was something else he'd been feeling for awhile.
Swiftly, the snake put his hands on the wall on either side of Kameron's face and leaned forward, his nose only inches from Kameron's nose. "Who said I wanted to spend my life being miserable?" he asked quietly. His expression was intense. He wasn't amused, but he wasn't enraged. Angry, but not enraged. Serious. Edgar would describe it as serious. For the first time, instead of wanting to ask, "Who the hell do you think you are?" he wanted to ask, "What the hell are you talking about?"

lots of WORDS
Jerking back when there were suddenly hands near either side of his hand, Kameron found himself colliding rather uncomfortably with the wall. As if being pinned in place by someone he was cross with wasn't bad enough to begin with. This whole day was just steadily going downhill and he really didn't want to be along for the ride anymore, but he supposed he may as well see it to the end. "You certainly had me fooled then," he spat back at the question. "Or do you just make a game of pissing people off?"
Sod seeing it to the end. Kameron was more than a little done with this entire situation. He hadn't signed up to have Edgar Halifax trying to intimidate him. Straightening up the little he could in the space provided to him, Kameron lifted his hands to push the snake away from himself. Except that isn't what happened at all.
Having drastically overestimated the space he had to work with, Kameron found himself moving too far forward and with the little distance between the two boys that meant far more contact than he'd ever asked for in a collision of noses and mouths.
Nope. Nope. Nope. This time Kameron's hands found their target and he shoved Edgar back, ending the not-kiss almost as soon as it'd started. If he hadn't been seething before he was now, though this time it was aimed more at his clumsiness than anything, because he knew the second it registered to the two other teenagers near him things were going to go straight to hell.
