The sun was just barely rising over the horizon, but Nate had already been awake for at least an hour. He had always been an early riser, much to his parents' displeasure when he'd been a child. Over the years, he'd seen plenty of sunrises, but they'd all begun to look the same as he grew older. There was nothing magical about them anymore. There hadn't been in many years.
This morning he had a lot on his mind. Hands curled around a mug of coffee for added warmth on the chilly autumn morning, Nate leaned on the railing of the porch and looked out to the trees surrounding his house. Sometimes it definitely paid to live off the beaten path, and getting to enjoy the quiet solitude of the morning was one of those times.
