Luke had picked a spot right near the door way to the Great Hall, standing on his toes for maximum viewpoint advantage. Though, he was pretty short, so it wasn't as if he could really see what was going on through the crowd that was funneling into the Hall for dinner. It was such a drag having a best friend in another house - plus, their common rooms were so away from each other. It was terrible, really. Frustrated, he climbed on the base of a pillar, then got up on his toes again. This was better!
He felt the muscles in his legs protesting as he strained even higher, trying to catch a glimpse of his friend. He was about to give up, thinking that perhaps the other boy had already moved into the hall without him realizing it. But, then, he spotted a familiar dark head, milling around in the middle of the group.
Ellis was talking to someone - Luke didn't see who - but Luke didn't really care. He sprang towards his friend, bouncing forward at a speed that humans were not really meant to move at. As such, by the time he arrived by Ellis' side, he was off-balance, and nearly plowed into his friend as he tried to regain his balance. "ELLIS! I have to show you something. Can we go outside? Wait, we should eat first..." He said, but it came out in an excited, jumbled mess of a sentence.

Ellis traipsed across the entrance hall, deep in conversation with his dorm mate Fritz regarding their most recent piece of potions homework. Their work was getting more and more difficult, but Ellis didn't mind. He enjoyed the added challenge, and wanted to be the best at all his classes. He had recently picked up some new courses, Healing and Arithmancy. Healing was bound to be really useful as he wanted to be a healer like his mum, and arithmancy sounded ever so interesting. Ellis wished he could have taken more, but his schedule hadn't allowed for it.
Mid-sentence describing the multitude of effects of a swelling solution, Ellis was plowed into. He wouldn't have minded either way, but was excited to find that it was Luke who had run into him. Ellis bid Fritz goodbye, promising to catch up regarding the swelling solution later. "Hi!" Ellis replied, beaming. "Show me something?? What?!" he asked, eyes alight with the prospect of adventure. His stomach grumbled, but Ellis couldn't bring himself to care. "Who needs food?! Okay well... maybe. We could grab something and take it outside? I wanna see what you're going to show me!"
He had plowed right into Ellis, totally interrupting whatever conversation he was having with his hosuemate. Luckily, the other guy didn't seem bothered by this - he was probably hungry - and wandered off. Luke realized that he was also very hungry as his stomach growled loudly. As much as he wanted to show Ellis the surprise, he wanted to also eat. What a dilemma.
"Let's just....ok. Yes. Grab the food, and I'll grab food, and then we'll take the food outside. But make sure you get the good stuff! No kippers, they're gross." He said, wanting to be sure they'd have only the best selection. With that, he sprang away, collecting food of his own from the Slytherin table, piling as much as he could into his arms before heading towards the door leading outside, to wait for Ellis.

Ellis wrinkled his nose. "You're right, they are," he said, wondering why Lucas thought that a breakfast food would be served at dinner. No matter. He dashed into the hall and grabbed cutlery and a plate, loading it with chicken legs, parsnips and roast potatoes. It took moments, and then he met his friend back in the entrance hall.
"So," said Ellis, gnawing on a chicken leg. "What did you want to show me? Is it dangerous? I hope so. But not too dangerous, but still something cool, but I'm sure it will be because you want to show me and all!" he went on in one breath.
