Being in the seventh year NEWT level potions class had never actively been something Aeron had wanted when he was younger. He'd also just never thought something like that would happen. But then Professor Redgrave had started teaching it and actually found a solution that made Aeron suck at them less. However, the thing he did still kind of suck at was Herbology. It was easy enough to care for the plants, he could do that no problem. But maintaining a long term memory about what each of them did was a different story entirely. So that was how he found himself wandering the greenhouses during a break.
He'd just wanted to get outside, restless from being cooped up. But it was December and the ground was covered in fresh snow, so he'd gotten cold quickly. Going somewhere warm that was meant to keep plants alive and not freeze them to death had been the obvious solution considering he still didnt want to go inside.
As he stepped into the first greenhouse, the warmth was nearly overwhelming after his jaunt in the snow, but it was also very welcomed. So was the company he found in the room, though it was the last person he expected. Maybe she wanted to enjoy the flowers or something? It occurred to him then how little he knew about Gabriela. "Fancy seeing you here," he commented, hoping to not startle her.
Being in seventh year was weird. She'd expected to end up there, eventually, of course. That was kind of par for the course of going through school. But to be actually in it? That was a lot stranger. And Ela wasn't sure that she liked it. She definitely did not like the amount of school work that being in seventh year involved. At all. Work ethic was never something that she had gained.
So she wasn't doing it. She'd much rather be doing... almost absolutely everything else. Which was how she ended up in the herbology houses. It was too cold to be actually outside, and plants were pretty. Unless they were trying to kill you. Well. That didn't impact their prettiness, it did impact how much she wanted to be around them.
But she liked being around pretty things, like plants and flowers, even if she didn't particularly like the work of herbology. She didn't like the work of much of anything. Which when rapidly coming up to the end of her schooling was something of an alarming fact. In half a year she was going to have to do something. She was going to have to make decisions, and work, and... it would be nice to have the protection of Hogwarts just for a little longer. Resisting the urge to pick the leaves off the plant in front of her, she gave a small start at a voice behind her.
Spinning, she found Aeron. "Not following me, I hope?" she asked.

There was an immediate sense of remorse when the girl started a little. That hadn't been his intention at all, but there was little to be done about it now. At least he had her attention now. "No, not following," he assured her with a smile as he walked closer. "Just sick of being inside and not too keen on being an icicle." Speaking of, now that he was in a room designed to stay warm, he was probably going to overheat in his heavy coat. But he also didn't feel like carrying it around. This was going to be a problem, but a problem he could deal with later.
Once he wasn't across the room anymore, he looked at the same plant Ela had been looking at before. "What brings you out here?" he asked. He was assuming it was much the same that he was here for, but maybe she just liked Herbology or something. Maybe this was where they finally got to know each other a little bit more as opposed to just... messing around all the time.
