It was Christmas. There was snow on the ground and presents under the tree and a warm fire in the hearth. It was the perfect scene. And Lorcan was more than a little excited for it. He'd woken up early and flopped onto his brother's bed across the room from him so that he wasn't alone in his excitement, but of course they couldn't do anything yet. It was still very dark and their parents would be quite displeased to be woken up before the sun, or at least that's what Lorc told himself. They'd probably be fine though. Maybe. Sitting cross-legged on the floor, he looked at his twin. "Should we go wake up mum and dad?" he asked with a wide smile. "Maybe we can start presents early if we do it now. Before breakfast this year." That would certainly be a fun adventure.
It was Christmas. Which was really the most exciting day of the year. Except maybe their birthday. Maybe. That was a hard call, and he wasn't sure if today was the day to be weighing those options. He hadn't slept very well. Kept waking up, and wanting to go and peek at the presents under the tree. And then he'd woken up again by Lorcan flopping on top of him.
At the suggestion of waking their parents, Lysander nodded. "Yes!" he said, in a loud whisper. It was hard to whisper when you were excited. Presents before breakfast? That would definitely be the best start to the day. "Let's go!" He hopped up to his feet, and despite the fact that they were about to wake up their parents, moved quietly through the hallway and slowly opened the door to their room. And then proceeded to go tumbling on top of the both of them. "Good morning!"

It was Christmas, so Luna knew that there was absolutely no chance she was going to be able to sleep in. She had ten year old twin boys who were definitely likely to come bounding in early in the morning for the opportunity to open presents. Which, she was moderately okay with. She didn't want to get up early on her day off, but she liked spending time with her boys and it was a holiday so she supposed sacrifices had to be made to her sleep schedule. Oh well, she just wouldn't stay up too late, and would try to persuade her husband to do the same so that they weren't dead tired during the opening of presents. They had to react appropriately after all, and it was rather exciting to have holidays with her boys. They would be off to Hogwarts next year, but she thought they would still come home for Christmas. Well, okay, they better come home for Christmas or else she would be very disappointed.
She was using her husband as a comfortable pillow when suddenly she was flopped on. She was really hoping it was one of her boys and not some wild critter that had fallen through the ceiling or something. There wasn't a crash, so she was pretty sure it was one of her sons. Now, the question was which was it. She opened and an eye before peering over the covers to see Lysander flopped on top of her and Rolf. "Good Morning." she managed before yawning. She poked Rolf in the cheek a few times. "It is apparently time to get up." she said with a smile while pushing blonde hair out of her face.

He could've sworn he had just literally closed his eyes before he had to open them again. It was Christmas which meant all sorts of preparations. It meant tiny little things that needed to be just perfect for the boys and both Luna and Rolf had worked hard for this ( well, they had gone to Christmas shopping and that had been tough alright). If only the boys could just sleep long enough but since it was Christmas and they were two very excitable young boys, that wasn't an option. Rolf had gone to bed a bit later than usual and since he couldn't sleep in this morning.
Even if Rolf knew the fact that the boys would sooner or later try and sneak in to their room, he still was surprised when there was something slightly heavy on him all of a sudden. Rolf let out a very sleepy groan. He heard Luna say something and then poke his cheek. " Five more minutes." Muttered the grown man and wiped drool off from his mouth. In the back of his head he knew he had to get up and that it was all worth it. The look on their sons faces when they opened all the presents would all be worth it. Plus, there was a good chance he'd get coffee.
Rolf let out another groan but this time opened his eyes and immediately grinned at Lysander. " Why are you up so early?" Rolf asked, pretending to be completely clueless.
Grinning, Lorcan took off out of the room with his twin, heading directly for their parents room. Could they have stopped to sneak a look at the presents under the tree? Yes. But they couldn't open them without mum and dad so that was much more important
Clambering up on the bed, he flopped next to his brother, effectively squishing their parents and waking them up. The reactions led to a round of giggles as Lorcan moved to a more comfortable spot that was only half on top of them instead. Lying over legs wasn't very comfortable after all. "It's Christmas!" he said loudly and excitedly. "Up, up!"
It never ceased to amaze Lysander how their parents could continue to sleep on Christmas day. How was it even possible? How come they weren’t always buzzing with excitement? Ready to gallop through the days adventures. But no, they were asleep. Well, until Lysander landed on top of the both of them, that was, followed quickly by Lorcan. He giggled. Now they were awake. As they should be.
“It’s definitely time to get up,” he said with a firm nod. “Daaaaad,” he protested, weakly shoving at his father, which didn’t really work from where he was flopped on the bed, like a fish. But, well, he’d tried. He had to know what day it was. It wasn’t as though people forgot about Christmas. That was silly. “C’moooooon.”

Her husband said something about five more minutes and she giggled. ”You know, I don’t think the boys are going to go for that dear.” she said with a grin at her husband before giving him another poke on the cheek. ”You shouldn’t have stayed up so late, you knew we would be getting up early.” she said in a sing song voice while slightly teasing him. Whether he was actually listening to her or not was up for debate, but that was fine. He wasn’t awake enough for conversation yet, so she’d give him a few minutes. The boys probably wouldn’t, but she would at least. There were two giggling boys on top of them, and her husband asked why they were up so early. Luna giggled in response. Clearly Rolf had no idea what would posses two young boys to get up quite this early in the morning. The answer was obviously presents. Especially with how excitedly the two of them had flopped like dead fish over her and Rolf.
The boys agreed that it was definitely time to get up, but she couldn’t exactly do so with two salamanders on top of her. ”Welp, looks like we’re trapped in bed though, guess we’ll just have to go back to sleep.” she teased before burrowing under the covers a little more. Maybe that would convince them to get up and run down stairs so that she could roll Rolf out of bed and get dressed. That was how getting up worked didn’t it? Maybe she’d make some coffee when she got downstairs. Breakfast was also in order, but she wasn’t sure she could make her boys wait until after breakfast to open their gifts.
