If she had a sickle for every time that Edgar ignored her, she would be significantly richer than she already was. What was the point in trying to stand up for herself when he ignored her. She might as well just keep her mouth shut.
Rosalie gave a slight wince at Edgar's comment which prevailed at Leo's response. Oh for Merlin's... She sighed softly, letting them at it. They weren't going to listen to her if she told them to behave themselves. What was the damn point.
She looked at Leo and gave a half smile. "I appreciate that...?" she said, eyes flickering to Edgar a little uncertainly.
Edgar rolled his eyes. Of course Rosalie took Leo's side. She took everyone's side, as long as it wasn't his. "Is there anyone's side you won't take over mine?" he snapped at her, glaring at Rosalie now. Leonard was a minor inconvenience compared to his treacherous betrothed. "He's the dirty one, he's the one who went and got himself bitten by a werewolf, and now he's parading around the school as if he's not as bad as some mudblood.
"You people are impossible," he hissed, looking back at the other boy with a continued glare. "Despicable."

@rosalie , @edgarhalifax
Lip curling, it was impossible to deny that he was angry now despite his efforts to remain at least somewhat level-headed in all of this. "You watch your mouth," he said lowly, anger simmering on the edge of the words. It normally took quite a lot to move him to such emotion, but there were just certain things, certain words, that were like an immediate spark. It brought out the side to him that most people never got to see. They saw the clumsy, loud boy. He wasn't loud or clumsy now.
“Oh are you deciding to address me now?” she returned peevishly back at him, not addressing what he had snapped about. If he wanted to be rude, than she wasn’t going to take his side. It was as simple as that.
She grimaced as Edgar kept talking. He was going to get himself punched in the fact again. She wouldn’t be terribly disappointed to be honest. “Edgar, do hold your tongue,” she hissed at him. There was some appearances to keep after all.
Her eyes flickered to Leo as he responded. Oh, this was going to keep getting nastier wasn’t it?
"Or what, mongrel? You'll hex me? Break my nose? It won't change what you are and what kind of company you keep." Edgar held his arms out to his side tauntingly. "Didn't like being compared to a mudblood?" There was the hint of a smirk.

"Breaking people's noses isn't very satisfying. Been there, tried that, not really fun," he noted with a slight snarl still. He knew that he shouldn't be rising to the bait, but then Halifax had used that word and if there was anything Leo wouldn't tolerate from anyone... "I just want you to remember that the school year doesn't last forever and these walls won't always protect you."
If she had a knut for every time that she was ignored... she'd be a lot richer than she already was. Not that any of that money was specifically hers, but more her parents, but the fact of the matter remained...
She expected it. Considering how often he did it. But it didn't make it any less tiresome when he did it. And maybe she shouldn't have cared what he thought, or how he acted towards her, considering how much an asshole he could be. But getting treated continuously like that, by someone that she spent such a great deal of time around... it was discouraging. And she was so tired of it. Her gaze dropped to the floor.
At Leo's threat, she raised them again, glancing at him.
Edgar inched closer to Leonard Holmes with a challenging smirk. "You should probably keep those words in mind yourself," the Slytherin said quietly, his eyes moving from one of Leo's to the other then back again. "Will you get your band of mudbloods to attack me then?"

Looking at the snake coolly, Leo said, "I can fight my own battles. And you don't scare me." He was hitting a point where nothing scared him. It was more that things just made him angry now. And everyone had a breaking point...
Maybe she should just not exist. Maybe the whole world would prefer it if she didn't exist. She was starting to think that she would. The amount of conversations that she had stood at recently and gotten completely ignored...
Her eyes flickered between the two boys. There was nothing for her to add. They'd seemed to forget she was even there. Maybe she should just leave. Except she couldn't. Because Edgar would probably bring it up later against her.
"Good for you," Edgar continued just as quietly. "You've got a backbone. Gotta give you props for that. A monster like you has got to stick up to his enemies, right?" His smirk never faded. "If only you stood a real chance."

Leo's eyes narrowed. "Are you trying to imply that you're my enemy, Halifax? Because I'm not sure that's a position you really want to have." He might be clumsy and loud sometimes, but the last few years had shown Leo that he had a rougher side, something quieter and darker. It was something born of necessity rather than choice.
