Brooke didn’t have a lot of close friends, but the ones that she did she always made sure to stay in contact with. She could go weeks with out seeing them but she would make sure to send letters and what not to keep up with the daily gossip. Today however she didn’t have to send a letter to Winnie, like usual, nope she was meeting up with her friend at the Three Broomsticks for lunch, to talk in person and see how Winnie was doing. It had been a few weeks since they were able to do this, so Brooke was looking forward to it.
Brooke made it to the restaurant and sat down at a table. She did not see Winnie yet, but Brooke also knew that she was a little early. She always seemed to arrive early. So while she waited she ordered a glass of water. Usually she would order something a little stronger but they had a night practice tonight and so she had to have a clear mind for that. Taking a sip of the water that the waitress had placed in front of her Brooke looked up at the door. She final saw the familiar red hair of her friend and before Winnie was even able to look around, Brooke was calling ”Winnie, I’m over here.”, and raising her arm up in the air so Winnie could see it.
One habit that Winnie had attempted to kick over the years since Hogwarts was being late. She had a tendency to be late, not to classes (where she was actually impeccably early, perhaps too early), but to social occasions, to meeting up with friends, to balls, etc. Unfortunately, despite her best efforts to leave her flat ahead of time, she had somehow gotten behind, and was now running late. How did this happen? Were the fates working against her? It was a possibility.
Winnie was on her way to meet with an old comrade, one that dated back to the first wee years at Hogwarts, when everything and everyone was so fresh and new. That seemed like eons ago, as she'd been out of school for well over five years, making those first few years when she met Brooke add up to nearly a decade ago. A decade. That seemed insane. How did time pass so quickly?
Winnie actually had very few friends from Hogwarts time that she actually kept up with these days. So much for those hopeful promises guaranteeing forever friendship. No one was to blame, really, just time. Time and distance and growing up. But luckily, she still had a few people to hold onto, people that now almost felt like relatives because of how well they knew her, and her them.
Winnie finally made it to the Three Broomsticks, she took her winter hat off and looked around. Lucky for her, the place wasn't too large, and she had the advantage of a helpful friend, waving her down. She smiled in Brooke's general direction and headed on over to the table. "Ah Brooke, good to see you. Hopefully I'm not too late!" Winn offered a hug and went to take her seat.
