ippa had a little time to herself between her last class of the day and dinner in the Great Hall, so she decided, rather than taking that time to study or practice a skill or something silly like that, to go down to the kitchens and get a sneak peek at what the students and faculty would be dining on that night. When she got there, Pippa was overcome by all of the enticing smells, sights and sounds that filled the room. Pips had never really spent much time inside of a kitchen before. There really was no need to when your House Elves did all of the cooking and baking for you. How nice of them to do all of that, really. Pippa had not really spent much time getting to know the House Elves that worked in Hogwarts's kitchen, but she fully intended to know each and every one of their names by the time she graduated.
Sneaking into the kitchen, one thing in particular caught Pips's eye: a gigantic cake. It's pastel pink icing beckoned to Pippa. The first year couldn't help herself. She secretly made her way over to the table where the cake sat, stuck her finger in the icing, and swiped up a bit of it with her finger, which she immediately put into her month to taste it. Strawberry! Her favorite!
Lark had near mastered sneaking around the school in her first term. At the very least she knew many nooks and crannies where she could hide, if not yet all the hidden passages. She liked exploring them and finding new things to do. This week it was the dungeons. A place she knew that her housemates generally avoided due to the Slytherins that resided there, but also no one really liked going down there.
But Lark did. She enjoyed the feeling that came with imaging knights in the castle-- Although she knew that really didn't happen. It was a bit like the old stories her parents would tell and that was exciting enough. Her favorite place, however, was certainly the kitchen. She often down there and attempted to help the house elves (they were, of course, very adamant that they would do everything). So instead she was sort of imprompu taste-tester and would occasionally try to sneak helping (it never worked).
She was in another part of the kitchens when Pippa came in, skipping behind one of the few house-elves who had both taken to her and put up with her rambunctious need to help. Lark hums to herself when she turns the corner and catches site of the girl at the exact moment she decides to taste test herself.
"Oooooh," Lark started sing-song, not at all serious, "you're not supposed to do that~"
