Being that he was new to the school, Ion spent plenty of his down-time exploring to see what sorts of things were in this strange castle that was apparently going to be his home until the summer months. It was different from Durmstrang, which he honestly hadn’t really gotten used to by the time he went home, but the rooms had the same basics to them. There were classrooms and then there were other rooms that clearly had different uses whether it was for clubs or some other activity. The staircases were weird, and moved a lot, so that was an adventure figuring out where he had and hadn’t been. Why they didn’t give new students a map baffled him to some extent, did they just expect them all to figure it out eventually? Needless to say, he was quiet lost when he found himself stumbling into what was apparently a music room. This was a room he hadn’t seen yet, and so that didn’t help him in the slightest for figuring out where he was, but it was something new. Perhaps he would hang out here for a while then return to figuring out where the stairs were and going down until he couldn’t anymore. That was where his dorm was right? Slytherin seemed to be in the basement, so it stood to reason that he would find it eventually if he ran out of stairs.
He did know how to play the piano, and there was one in here, so he might as well use the free time he had to take a break from exploring for a bit. He didn’t have anywhere he really needed to be immediately, and it was still a while until curfew, so he figured might as well hang out in the first room to really interest him since coming to the school. He took a seat at the piano and began to play. It wasn’t anything particularly complicated, as he was just following the sheet music that was there, someone had probably forgotten it in a haste to get to another class or something. Though, he did suppose it was possible that it was left their intentionally as something for students to play if they didn’t have their own stuff with them. Actually, that almost made more sense as who brought piano music to Hogwarts? It wasn’t as if they could bring an actual piano with them, so unless they knew about the room they were unlikely to realize there was any need to bring it.
Absently, he heard footsteps and the door open, but it didn’t really register until he finished the song he was on. Turning around, he saw another boy there, just sort of standing and staring. Was it that unusual to find someone else in the room or was the boy just waiting for him to finish to say something? It was rude to interrupt he supposed. ”Er, do you need something?” he asked with a raised eyebrow and a definitely eastern European accent.
