damned if you do.
Making a very, very disgruntled noise, Kameron moved his arm back away from the hand grabbing it. This was not at all how he'd seen the day going, though days never really did go how he thought they would. This was just worse than anticipated. "I don't have to admit anything to you," he snapped as he moved away again. "And I also don't have to answer to you."
What he really needed to do was get the hell away. His skin felt like it was on fire from the sheer annoyance that was slowly converting itself into legitimate anger. "I told you to leave me alone, so leave. me. alone."

He was sure he'd lost his chance as the boy he'd been looking for moved to walk by him and he still didn't manage to figure out what to say, but then he turned around. Okay, Kameron could work with this. Totally. "I, uh, this is going to sound weird as fuck, but I was wondering if I could talk to you about something," he said with a shrug, trying to keep things as casual as possible. Hopefully he didn't get outright turned down, because he had no backup plan whatsoever.

While the Slytherin was distracted, Kameron took the chance to put some distance between himself and the couple on the stairs below him. Maybe he could get far enough away that he'd be out of sight before the other boy no doubt ran after him. How annoying.
The stairs were emptier now, meaning he could hear the footsteps charging up after him. Great. He just wanted to get away and get rid of the anger bubbling under the surface. Anger didn't solve anything. The sound got closer and he whirled around again. "Would you fuck off?"

Sometimes Kameron was impulsive, but sometimes he thought things through as thoroughly as he possibly could before he set out on a mission. Today was one of the days that he'd mostly thought things out, but there was always a chance for error. He wasn't a strategist after all. He was only a thirteen year old boy that wanted answers. But for all his planning, he was actually really bad at finding people he had never spoken to, so he went for the obvious choice and headed down to the dungeons. He'd get results sooner or later.
It was really boring though. And he was sat on the floor, counting the cracks in the ceiling for the third time when he heard someone coming down the corridor. Just as he had with the last few people he'd heard, Kam let his gaze drift from his counting to see who it was. Finally.
Nearly toppling over in his hurry to get up, Kameron moved away from the wall and towards the person who was apparently his relative that he'd never met before. This was going to be interesting to say the least. What did he even say? Hello? Did he call out his name instead? But that would be weird since they'd never met before, wouldn't it? Okay, so maybe he hadn't thought this through very well after all.

Kameron's eyes narrowed as his annoyance turned into actual anger. "My mother has nothing to do with this, you arrogant piece of shit." It was tempting in that moment to push the other boy away from, but that would likely result in a fall down the stairs and Kameron really didn't feel like spending the rest of the year in detention. Or expelled.
Deciding that he was more than done with other people for the day, Kameron turned on his heel to continue going up the stairs. He didn't have the time or patience to deal with people like Edgar Halifax anymore. He had what he needed and he was out of there for good.

"You don't get to tell me what I do and don't get to say," Kameron shot back immediately, glad to be a step above the other two so that he had some leverage. "I told you I didn't even want your help but you did it anyway. It's not my fault you're unhappy with the result." It also wasn't like he was just going to throw the information away now that he had it, help wanted or not. It was done, and that was all he was concerned about.
Quite annoyed, he turned to the girl. "You should probably try to control him better. God knows he needs a minder." It was a low blow, he knew that much, but oh well. What's done was done.

For a brief second, Kam's eyes flickered to the girl with Halifax. She was clearly uninvolved in this and he felt sort of bad that she'd been dragged along. But that's sort of what she got for hanging around people like the Slytherin in front of him. It was almost enough to make him just turn and go on his way again, because he was pretty sure he could outrun them in Halifax was insistent on dragging the girl with him some more.
Until there was a finger being brandished in his direction. "Oh please, like you've never used someone to get what you want," he said with a snort. "Don't even try to play the victim here."

Oh bugger, the voice was getting closer it seemed. That was the opposite of what Kameron wanted to have happen, but that didn't stop him from continuing on his way. He had made up his mind and it wasn't going to change now. Until he felt a tugging on his shirt.
Whirling, he rounded on the other boy, removing himself from the grasp as he moved."What?"The word wasn't as annoyed or snappy as he wanted since he was out of breath from running up several flights of stairs, but he'd tried.

If he had known the girl better, Kameron would have laughed at the suggestion that he'd been studying. He couldn't remember the last time he'd properly sat down to study anything that wasn't one of his hobbies and those weren't really studying at all, except maybe his music. He shook his head at her question. "I was trying to finish up a song," he admitted. Most people probably knew by now that he played his guitar a lot, but he never really talked about his poor attempts to make his own songs. Maybe someday he'd get better at it, with more practice, but for now they were mediocre at best.
Having been given a plate shortly after he walked in, Kam finally looked down to see what was for late lunch today. "Looks like finger sandwiches and fruit," he said, though there was every chance she'd gotten something different. He had sort of hoped the elves would give him sweets, but it was probably better that they hadn't. Shrugging to himself, he plucked one of the little sandwiches off the plate and took a bite. "Did you miss lunch too?" he asked around the mouthful of food. Oops. Probably should have waited to speak until after swallowing.

About halfway up the set of stairs Kameron decided that two at a time was too much effort, instead moving to run up the remaining stairs normally. He went up and down them every day so he should be more used to how many there were, but he also didn't normally try to run them.
Due to the slower pace, he was most definitely still in ear shot when he heard his name being called out in a voice he knew. Nope, not turning around for that one. He didn't have time to be dealing with Edgar Halifax's tantrums about life not being fair. Instead, he just continued on his way up the stairs.

In most cases, Kam tried to keep snack in his dorm, if only because sometimes the Great Hall was down far too many stairs to bother going to meals, but he'd recently finished off his last snacks and his father hadn't yet sent more, so he was forced to actually take the trip down the stairs for food, and the worst part is that it wasn't even a meal time right now, so he had to go down even more stairs to get to the kitchen. Finding the room had been an accident while exploring one day, but it had come in handy ever since. The atmosphere was nice when he was feeling down and being able to get food when he was really hungry was useful. Sometimes he'd even snuck out at night to do so.
Tickling the part of the painting that would open the door, Kam ducked into the kitchen, smiling and greeting several of the house elves there by name. He'd never understood how someone could be cruel to such sweet creatures and he went out of his way to be kind when he visited. Hearing his name though, he jumped slightly, nearly losing his grip on the plate he'd been given. "Oh, hi Adie!" he said with a smile as he turned to find the girl there too. "Yeah, I did. Missed lunch." Though the two had never talked much, he knew the girl from classes and he'd picked up on her nickname over that time too. She seemed nice so hopefully this would be fun.

It was around dinnertime, but Kameron was unfortunately headed up the stairs rather than down them. He would just have to turn around and make the trip back soon, but first he had to take care of something he'd forgotten in his dorm. It could probably have waited, but then he'd have thought about the entirety of dinner and not really enjoyed his food, so he thought he'd take care of it now.
Taking the steps two at a time was probably dangerous with other students still milling about them, but he was in a hurry. He didn't take any notice to the people around him as he did so, brushing past the arguing couple that were heading down the steps.
